Fast paced prison movie about a newspaper reporter (James Cagney), who is set up for a manslaughter charge and thrown in prison. Once in prison he helps fellow in-mate Raft escape, thus placing him in the warden's bad favor. He is thrown into solitary confinment and comes out changed and embittered. Good acting by James Cagney and George Raft.
