Here are some of the results from the survey I have posted on this site. I do thank everyone for their responses. All these responses are anonymous. You will also have to slide the page to the right so see all answers. I have kept the answers the exact same way as they were written, with mistakes and caplocks and what have you. I truly hope these help:)
 
Do you suffer from panic attacks or agoraphobia? How long have you had panic attacks and how long do they last? Have you ever had a bad experience? I.E. death of a loved one or friend, rape, molestation etc. What was the bad experience? Are you male or female? Are you or have you been on medications? If so what was perscribed? Do you ever get vertigo just out of the blue without having a panic attack?

What symptoms do you experience when having a panic attack? Are you in the care of a Doctor? .Have you ever been a heavy user of alcolol or drugs? When having panic a panic attack, is there anything you do to slow it down or be able to end it?
Please explain.
1. yes I have had them since approx. 1987 I experienced rape, three deaths within 5 years. female I am on Paxil and ativan yes heart racing, dizziness, nausea, weakness, tremors yes yes i try to keep myself busy and occupied with other things to keep my mind busy.
2. Panic     attacks off and on for about 4 years. they used to last anywhere from an hour to and hour and a half. many. lots of relatives have passed. my mother had breast cancer too. female xanax a few years back. only took when I was experiencing panic. yes nausea, heart pounding, racing shaking, feeling of wanting to run. yes no i use my tapes from Anxiety Busters. its the only thing that has helped me overcome this monster, and it's natural.
3. panic attacks 3 yrs. most of the time they don't last very long yes my dad died female Inderal for 3 yrs. yes Can't get my breath, sweating, tingling yes no i just have to walk till it wears off
4. yes, sometimes 14mo divorce female zolof, buspar, koinapin, atarax yes, that's when i fell broke my wrist twice, gave myself a black eye. pounding heart, hot falsahas my hands shake, sharp pains in my head disoriented fell over things that i know are thre bloured vision break out in hives, things don't seem real, can't swolo hot spots on my body, restless yes no lochol just pot i pray
5. yes both 12 years. from a few minutes to all day everyone cheating on me and using me female zispin and diazaman at the moment, prozac and plenty of others over the years no can't breath, tension all over, retching and sickness, shakes and my mind won't work, i pace a lot because i can't sit still yes alcohol problems i get a friend to talk to me and take my mind off it.
6. I was diagnosed with panic disorder around December 2000 My panic attacks started in 1996 during labor with my second child. I only had them when on medications or sick with flue or fever. Then they started to be more frequent after some stressful events. Yes I have lost loved ones, a bad first sexual experience and raised by a Narcissistic father. female I am taking Celexa 20 to 30mg a day. I also have Lorazapam .5mg to take if needed for feelings of anxiety or panic that I can't seem to get a hold of myself by breathing techniques. yes, or room will seem slanted. I have usually dismissed this related to sinus. This is what my doctor told me it could be. hot flashes, tingling, shortness of beath, heart beat faster, brain seems scattered, need to go to the bathroom, dry mouth, fear, cold and hard shaking. yes no I have been taught breathing techniques that can help the attacks that are brought on by medications or illness. The effectiveness of breathing techniques seems to be less effective when i am overtired or I get reveved up from evening walks.
7. yes off & on for about 15 years some last longer then others but the worse is uaally about 15-30 minutes death of a brother from a heart attack, & ending my marrige female zanax, & paxil no not much a few times maybe chest pain, sweating tingling in my arms & hands & fingers, week kind of spiin feeling like i could pass out. yes No, I do drink some on the weekends Not really i do fast walking, seems to help
8. panic attacks i have had two in the past that lasted a few minutes, but had a bad one a month ago that has led me to not feel myself for a month so far. no bad experiences female no medications no palpitations, anxiety, fear, feeling of not being able to get a full breath, feeing of dread/doom, like nobody can help i will be from next week did smoke a lot of marijuana at university - it definately has something to do with it, as i cannot touch the stuff now without going into a panic attack get up and walk particualarily outside, and it really helps if people are with you and keep you talking to take your mind off it.
9. Panic attacks A few months. I have only had one or two. No female Betablockers. I don't think they work. I feel horrid. No Racing heart, derealisation, fear of going crazy, tingling arms and legs and numb lips. Sort of Occasionally Diaphragmatic breathing. meditation if I am able.
10. yes They last all day, coming on in waves. on and off 9 years, as long as i am in feared situations no female currently on paxil i have, but when i think back on the situation i was in, it was usually a 'threatning' one

11. yes minutes only to an hour female occasionally tingling and pins and needles of body, mostly arms and chest, weakness of limbs, tearfulness, terrible shakes that cannot be controlled, dry mouth. yes no try meditation, talk to a friend who understands you and where you are coming from and can maybe talk you through it.

13. my son does approx 2 weeks - sudden onset first one lasted about 45 minutes now they roll from one to another yestreday lasted approx. 4 hours waxing and waning Multiple deaths in the family, also lost two uncles one died at 15 and one at 19 opposite sides of family - asks if he will die young.> male started Valium yesterday for immediate help - to start Zoloft no vomiting - can't breath - uncontrollable fear - absolute panic!!!< yes no It seems like with him - if I speak to him I am able to talk him down somewhat - does not respond to my husband or grandparents.
14. Panic attacks 25 years, sometimes an hour or two Yes, my father molested me as a child. female Yes but not anymore. It was called (I can't remember actually) sometimes like someone is choking me, heart palputations, numbness, severe anger, dizziness, shortness of breath no no neither I just through a terrible tamtrum throwing things and screaming and crying at the top of my lungs.

Both 13 years ive had panic attacks but have suffered from agraphobia for about 4 years although am getting better i was in a very violent relationship for 3 years, in this time i was also forced into having sex in front of his friends and on one occasion he forced me into having anal sex with him against my wishes female i'm on cipramel(40mg) and Bete blockers every day no my heart feels like it is beating very fast outside of my body, i get sweaty palms i start to shake and worst of all i need to find a loo yes, a very kind and understanding doctor no, if i drink alcohol my panic attacks get worse i've never touched drugs i can control my breathing now as i just keep reassuring myself that i am not going to die from this and that it will not last forever. Sometimes i will do math in my head so that my mind can concentrate on something else.

21. Both 5 years. they last from a half hour to 1 hour abusive relationship,+more, its hard to talk about it, my hart is starting to race rigt now. I will move to Female I used to be on Zoloft and Depokote and something to regulate my heart beat. i'm starting meds again next week no fast heartbeat, cold clamy skin, body gets tingly, my legs feel like rubber, shortness of breath, sick, dizy and a dume feeling i'm going to die yes No I have learned to freeze up. I go on a cleaning spree in my house.
22. Yes They have been with me for almost 5 years. They last half hour. First panic attack while driving cannot drive now. Yes Caring for my 95 year old mother for 15 years thought breaking hip and folling down stairs in wheel chair. female Tried buspar but did not help me with driving. Paxil gave me panic attack. Zoloft gave in insomnia sometimes racing thoughts, sweating palpitations, chills, shaking, dizziness feeling like passing out yes glass on wine every night I go to a family member and say what is happening to me and they calm me down.
23. Yes I've had them off and on now for 20 years, it has started again, I think I am dying of a heart attack all the time. I get pains in my chest, a tingling burning feeling down my arms & in my jaw, sick feeling & sweaty & weak brother died of a heart attack at 44 years of age, shortly after that, this all started for me female yes Paxil & Xanax yes chest paings tining in my arms, sore jaw, hot sweaty, sick feeling weak & can't seem to get any air yes i like beer not heavy, but i like it sometimes I hav tried every thing but I just seem to get more uptight and think I am having a heart attack. & then it gets worse.
24. Panic/Anxiety and Agoraphobia 14 years Attacks can last from several minutes to an hour or more Most of above, also severe head injuries from automobile accident. Had an extremely violent and abusive brother and then first husband. Have now been happily married for 11 years toa wonderful and understanding man Female Am taking Prothiaden (Dothep) and valium. Have tried lots of others but they just didn't work. Have now been on Dothep successfully for 8 years yes, yes, yes!!! Pains in the chest and left arm (always!). Extreme muscle tension, vision impairment, fear of dying, hyperventilation, tingling/numbness, dizziness, weakness in limbs, vomiting, bertigo, diahorreha feeling of choking, trouble swallowing, break in a cold sweat etc. Yes, a very understanding one! Smoked marihuana from 22-33 (I'm 47 now) Only drank socially Took LSD and speed from age 22-30 but not all that often

occassionally at parties. I haven't self medicated or drank since I was 33.
Sometimes I can 'talk' myself out of it/through it. If that doesn't work then i will have half a valium. Sometimes I just let it happen, it all depends on the severity.
25. panick attack and agoraphobia it all started 1 yr this month (december) they can last any thing from 2 minutes to 3 days loved one recently but that aint what causes these female i have not been on medication in this past year BUT i was on medication last year for depression i was taking effexor and one time  took 3 at one time to enjoy myself when i went out that's when i had my first panick attack yes sometimes palpitations, feeling like i ait all there...feeling sick, week, lightheaded, o my got whats happening, i sometimes think that if i have a headace i am having a brain hemmorage etc... no, i am afraid to take drugs because of all the side affects after affects and also make me worse...but its getting to the stage now that i just can't trust any body not even my own mom i was a heavy user of drugs at one time 3 years ago...but stopped 2 years ago when i had my baby.. no i can't control them any more i used to be able to but i can't...i need some advanced breathing etc just doesn't work any more, its as if something is taking over my body/mind etc.
26. Yes I was diagnosed with panic dosorder at the age of 14 I am now 21, so about 7 years. Now that I am managing them better, a full blown attack will last up to 1 hour the only bad experience that I would call bad is my fathr's alcoholism throught my childhood I am female I am now on Zoloft 100mg for anxiety accompanied with depression (s.a.d.) not really The symptoms I feel when having a panic attack are severe nausea, diarrhia unreality or depersonalizatio, sometimes vomiting, dizziness and tremors. No, my dad was an alcoholic, so I don't touch the stuff. Also the symptoms of being drunk trigger off panic attacks for me Yes I was taught to slow down my breathing and concentrate on taking dep breaths from deep in my diaphram. Also, I have managed to turn my negative self talk around so I don't scare myself any more than I am feeling. I say this  self-talk like "this will pass, you will overcome this", "you are stronger that this" or "you have had one of the attacks before, and you got through it". My favorite is "this is just fear, and every time I have a panic attack, it just gives me more coping skills and strength to get through the next one." I also pace back and forth.

Yes I do I have had them for about 15 years now  I  have been raped and physically abused Female too many to mention yes! rapid heartbeat, diziness, sadness, and so many more yes, a psychiatrist no I try very hard to relax. FROM PANIC ATTACKS...WELL I RECENTLY STARTED HAVING THEM A FEW WEEKS AGO AND ITS VERY SCARY I'VE BEEN GETTING THEM FOR ABOUT 2-3 WEEKS AND THEY USUALLLLLY LAST ABOUT HALF AN HOUR NOPE FEMALE THEY PERSCRIBED VISTARIL FOR ME BUT I'M AFRAID TO TAKE IT NO LIKE I CAN'T BREATHE IN ENOUGH AIR AND MY HEART IS BEATING REALLY FAST AND I START HYPERVENTILATING AND MY HANDS AND FACE GET NUMB AND I GET A SORT OF CHOKING FEELING...HORRID..I FEEL LIKE I WON'T BE ABLE TO BREATHEON WELL, I SAW  ONE FOR  IT BUT HE DIDN'T MUCH TAKE ME SERIOUSLY NO I READ THAT I HAD TO BREATHE IN AND HOLD MY BREATHE FOR A FEW SECONDS THEN SLOWLY BREATHE OUT AND IT HELPS A LITTLE AND ALSO JUST HAVING FUN SINGING AND DANCING. THE WAY I THINK ABOUT NUTTIN AND DRINK A LITTLE BUT IT CAN'T BE TOO MUCH...OR ELSE I'D HAVE OTHER PROBLEMS...

35. I suffer from panic attacks I have had panic attacks since I was 16, I am currently 24. I am on 3 different types of pills to help combat my anxiety.  I only get panic attacks once in a while and I take sleeping pills to knock myself when they do occur. I do think about terrible things and this makes me think I am crazy. I have not had a bad experience.  My life is going amazing and that is why I cannot understand where my panic attacks are coming from. Female Yes I am on Paxil, ativan and clorizabam yes once or twice a year this happens sweaty palms, pins and needles all down my body, and I think of horrible thoughts and spinning Yes No I take a sleeping pill to knock myself out and I usually feel a little better by morning or whenever I wake up.

40. Panic attacks but only my first one and i was TERRIFIED I have had social phobias from the age of 13 but they were never diagnosed. I did see a phyciatrist who said that I needed to go to hospital for desensitisation because of my rough past. However I never did get treated and I managed to cope and avoid really stressful situations. this has lasted for 44yrs until the big one 2 days ago. Yes mother, father, sister dying when I was young. Childhood rough not knowing who out of all the people around who was my real mother and father. Alcholism throught the family. Fights between my father and mothers, boyfriend, I through their fighting was kicked into an open fire. Abandoned numerous times. Morbid fear of abandonment. My husband divorced me, thought I would die or wanted to. Sexual molestation throughout childhood. Death of some great friends. female After leaving the hospitali asked for something to calm me down as I was petrified that I would have another attack. they gave me lorazapam yes. put it down to getting up to quickly or not eating enough an intense burning in my chest radiating to my arms and then intense heat from my stomach radiating all down my legs to my feet. The heat was so intense that I thought of internal combustion and I would just burn up. chest wall heavy, very very lightheaded and kept thinking I WAS going to pass out but terrified to as I thought if I did I would die. Shaking all over my body. not daring to move in case it bought on another wave of heat radiating through my body. It may sound stupid but I had to try and keep control otherwise I would die. yes for arthritis and fibromyalgia yes to alcohol but not now just a drink now and then. i have no problem with it. Drugs no but I have taken quite a few pain pills tylenol #3 percadan, talwin While having an attack I Kept all to myself and try to calm myself down and to breath slowly and relax my arms and legs. I noticed I was clinging to dear life on my husbands arm so I had to make my self relax my grip. I also found that if i thought of how bad this was I would get worse so had to train my thoughts.

Yes I had the first one about a month ago it was very scary a month ago Yes we have had four deaths this year of close family my husband has bad heart disease and money problems yes 40mg paxil no pounding heart thought I was having a heart attack, shakeness, dry mouth, hiperventalating yes no I only had one attack but have had the feeling of others comming and did some exercises the Dr. told me about and heat from a heat pad seems to help relax me when I have that feeling and did that till we got the right amount of paxil to help.

43. panic attacks just started a few days ago. they last up to 3 minutes, but come back often may not be horrible but almost breaking up with bf planing to run away anorexia, failing math female only tylenol2 for migranes sorta, i just feel really dizzy i feel like a deer caught in headlights an incredible force comes into my body and my first instinct is "you're going to pass out". i can't hear much of what's going on and everything gets dimmer. i just need to lay down not yet not heavy...i smoke or drink on the weekend sometimes deep breaths, change thoughts put my head down or just rest for a few minutes.

45. yes, panic attacks about 1 year now. they last approx 15-20 minutes no female yes, xanax no sortness of breath dizziness feeling of fainting shaking rapid heartbeat yes no yes they happen when I am driving. I call someone and talk to them on  my cellphone and that helps stop them.
46. Sometimes a couple of years and for a couple of minutes just the loss of a good friend female yes Paxil. No tight chest, breathing problems faintness, pains in chest Yes No Usually a friend there to calm me down.
47. yes They just started within the past month or so. I had no idea what they were which made it that much scarier. Last week one came on so bad I thought I was having a stroke ora geart attack - I lost feeling in my hands feet and face and only found out what was really going on when my roomates rushed e to the hospital. They range in how long they last, anywhere from just a couple minutes to hours before I can get a good deep breath again. no, never, I have been very, very lucky. female yes, Vistaril Yes!!! Didn't know that was even related shortness of breath, light headedness, loss of feeling in feet hands and face, chest pains, FEAR no no The Emergency Room doctors said to breathe into a bag. Also, watch the clock. I need to take 12 deep breaths every minute - even if I feel like i'm not getting  oxygen, and that will help me calm down.
48. yes About a year...they come in spurts, usually five minute bouts grouped together in long many hour sessions not really female Currently on Celexa, have been on Zoloft and Xanax Sometimes if I stand up too fast Uncontrollable shaking, sort of breat/choking, intense fear of everything and nothing all at once. dizziness, headache, the need to grab onto something Yes No Breathe in and out
49. yes i'm 39 now, i guess since i was 18. i didn't have them for years. now i'm in the process of stopping my excessive drinking, and they're very bad no female none so far yes you name it i've probable felt it. today was my worst. it started around noon. i'm on my third one for the day. yes but not for this i've been clean from speed for 4 years. but i continued to drink, and it just got worse. i try to tell my self i'm not going to die. which by the way doesn't always sork. i do some deep breathing and try to calm myself
50. Yes to both. For 19 years. Usually 10-20 minutes.The worst one lasted 4 days. I was molested by two family members, raped at the age of 16, beaten by ex for several years. female I used to take Prozac. Can't force myself to swallow pills any longer. Oh yes Can't breathe, can't think, feet and hands go ice cold, lets turn rubbery, dizziness, think I'm going to die. No Never. As soon as I feel one coming on, immediately breathe in very slowly, counting to myself one-thousand-one, one thousand-who, then I exhale very slowly counting the same way to the count of four. I give myself positive talk, I tell myself its just anxiety, its not a big deal, it won't hurt me, it will go away.

52. yes, panic attacks 5 years, and they last about 10-15 minutes not counting the build up or wind down as I call them nothing besides an overall unhappy childhood female no no heart palpitations, jittery, fear of dying and/or going crazy, nothing seems real (I forget what it's called), all noises seem to intese and loud. yes no If someone makes me (I never want  or feel able to organize on my own) get up and walk or leave the immediate space I'm not sure if its's the walking or leaving that helps.
53. yes on and off for 20 years more in the last 10 they last for an hour or all day and when i wake up yes bad allergic reaction to medications and a bad relationship with my mother and molested by my brother female no only herbal stuff yes all the time chronic fear wanting to escape, jelly legs tight neck chocking tingling fast heart beat unable to breath properly can't think suffocation and many more no although i have told the doctor. i see a councellor and have just started to go to a support group no i just escape back home or pace around continually try breathing or ring a friend.
54. panic attacks 5 years. They usually last for about 15 minutes, but I have had them for an hour or more My mother and father had a bac, conflicting marriage and my mother was suicidal. I always tried to make sure that she would not hurt herself. female I took celexa for a year, but it caused my blood sugar levels to drop and I gained 20 pounds. I stopped taking it and did okay for about 10 months, but recently had a few SEVERE panic attacks. I just started taking prozac and xanax if needed for severe attack. Yes Tingling in neck and arms, distorted hearing, weakness/faintness, feeling like I am smotherng and no air is getting into my lungs, fear that I am dying. Kuring my last attack both of my legs began jerking out of control yes no I try to talk to myself and say things like I am not dying- this is just one of the attacks and it will pass. I pray alot and read the bible this helps me sometimes. Having my husband hold my hand and talk to me helps a little. Sometimes, I can end it, but others I can not. I just try to have faith in God that I will get through this.
55. i think i have both 20 yrs. 10 min to 1 hour yes, childhood sexual abuse abusive marriage childhood emotional abuse female i don't like ssri side effects, especially weight gain. i started busbar three days ago no vision darkens, sweaty palms, fast heartbeat, intense fear, feeling like i am losing control, detached feeling, spacey feeling in head yes yes, drugs by the way alcohol is also a drug. removing myself from crowded places, mine happening in church, restaurants, meetings, etc.

57. yes from both I am 53 and have suffered from theseattacks since I was in elementary school. An attack can last for hours There are many forms of "bad" experiences. Mostof mine deal with loses of some sort. Female Yes. Too many to name and none usually help. No I feel like I am being smothered. Yes No I just need to get somewhere where I feel safe. It maybe with a person or a certain room.
58. Yes, both I have had this problem for about 16 yrs. I have had attacks last for up to half hr. or however long I am in the feared situation I was almost raped when I was six or so yrs. old. I'll never forget the horror of it. I also remember my grandfather dying when I was very young and my father "abandoned" me when I was about 6. I adorded him. I'm female Yes over the yrs. immipramine, paxil, lorezapam, clonezapam, ativan, xanax, and now celexa A little but not too often. Once I had it happen where I couldn't lift my head up off the pillow in the middle of the night because it would make me feel like I was going to vomit. Lasted for two days. racing/pounding heart, tight chest, feel like I can't breath, fear of dying, want to run to get out of the situation yes and no. I was in care of a doctor and then I was "dismissed"as a patient. I go to the "clinic" when I need to see a doctor. no, not really, used to drink/party when I was in my twenties but not heavy. Sometimes I put my hand to my stomach to make sure that I 'stomach breathe' This helps me to know that I "am breathing" I also take medication to help it if I need it.

60. yes off and on for about 6 years I was involved in a Helicopter crash male no no rapid pulse, rapid heartbeat, nausia, hot flashes, tingling in hands and feet rapid breathing, overall panic. no no I try to adjust my breathing and go from there.
61. panic attacks I have had 3 panic attacks in the last month. I am 20 yrs old and they seemed to last about 10-15 minutes. not yet female I got put on paxil not yet, I had my first attack about a month ago rapid heartbeating, nervous, hands and fingers go numb, I feel like I'm going to die yes yes, I'm in college so I tend to drink alot, I've experimented with drugs but I never considered myself a heavy user. I am trying to figure out how to do this now, until the paxil starts working. I was put on clonzepam.
62. yes It's going on for about 4 years now. They come and go and last anywhere from minutes to weeks. My dad died 6 years ago from cancer. I also grew up with my mom and a string of her abusibe boyfriends. female I've been prescibed Prozac and most recently Xanax, but I haven't taken them because I'm terrified of medicine I've had that before when I've been real nervous about a situation I'm in. The biggest one is I feel like I can't breathe and it's terifying. Also, I feel dizzy, nautious, and my heart seems to flutter all over the place. Chest pains, a feeling like something is in my throat, chronic headaches, diarreah, etc. My doctor has actually told me that unless I go on medication there's nothing they can do to help me. But like I menioned before, I'm terrified of medication and I don't think that it should be my only option. So I'm thinking about telling them I'm taking it, just so they'll send me to the support groups and therapist appointments. No I wish something worked for me, I don't know, I suffer constantly.
63. yes I have had them for 1yr 1/2, and sometimes up to an hour my grandma died last febuary, and i feel like i went with her female ha ha...which havn't i been on yes cannot breathe at all, very dizzy, awful chest pains, worstthoughts imaginable, i shake, get very tingly hands and feet. yes no, i used to drink but not heavily my mom or boyfriend helps calm me down. i take an ativan and it helps me too.
64. Yes, both. I've had them for 12 years. I don't have them very often now, but when I do they usually last 30-90 minutes. My agoraphobia is the bigger problem, caused by my avoiding "panic trigger" places. My panic attacks started after I was convinced by my parents to have an abortion I didn't want. Female I was on Xanax and Pamelor when I first was diagnosed. Now I take Zoloft and Wellbutrin daily, and have Xanax if I need it. Yes, fairly frequently. Is that part of the panic disorder? Racing pulse, tingling in hands, feet and scalp, sweaty palms, feelings of losing my sanity, hyperventilation, racing thoughts. Not really. My general physician perscribes my anit-depressants but I don't see him on a regular basis. For about a year after my panic attacks started, I got drunk a lot and smoked pot some. Sometimes I can write my way through it. I just grab some paper and scribble out throughts. If that doesn't work, I take a Xanax.
65. Yes Since I was about 8. They come and go. Sometimes they last a few seconds, sometimes minutes. But it feels like hours NO Female Yes, Desipramine no Sweating, feel like crying. Just want to run from wherever I am. yes yes Not really. I just try to tell myself that I am fine and there is nothing to be anxious about.
66. yes, I think so or anxiety attacks over a year from minutes to hours to days. I think they are either panic attacks or anxiety attacks. my mother died and I was with her day and nite for 2 weeks before she died. She died a little over a year ago. I also possibly am hypoglycemic female yes, prilosec, cellebrex, premarin, atacand, allegra, zoloft, paxil, wellbutrin, xanax. I am off the psychotic meds and xanax right now but am having problems again and i need to go back to the doctor. i get dizzy but room does not spin. dizziness blurred vision, ringing in ears, inside shaking, can't sleep, tingling around mouth and lips. I have a medical doctor which i'm seeing and am going to go back to a psychiatrist. I go to a psychologist no no and I want to know if you have any suggestions. I try to talk to myself and to do relaxation exercises but I seem to get more upset and my symptoms increase. sometimes I feel like I'm going crazy. I still work for now until I find out more about the Hypoglycemia.
67. Agoraphobia I do have panic attacks but not as often because I don't go out much. They last until I am home or somewhere I feel safe. Kidnapped at gunpoint in a car jacking and a separate incedint in an armed robbery. Female Paxil was not a good match for me. Right now I have Alprazolam to take when I need to. No Total panic, nervousness, heart races, need to escape. Therapist No Leave. Right now!
am trying to learn relaxation techniques, but do not have the ability to calm myself at this time.
68. yes I had it in the 12th grade  and forgot all about it. I really did not know what it was and now I have the same feelings all over again. none female none none nervous, being by myself in a big store or eating dinner in a restaurant. I feel like i'm going to faint. no none just deep breaths and go home

71. Panic Attacks I have hed them for about 5 years now. There are some that only last seconds, but I have also had some that can lsat up to a day. Attempted rape, emotional abuse by someone I met over the internet. female 75mg Effexor, which was working for a while, but lately I have been having breakthrough attacks. Rarely Racing heart, fear of what I call "impending doom" follwoed by nausousness. And feeling of unreality. That's as best i can explain. Occasionaly, but I have no medical insurance. NO! Not really, except I try to remind myself where I am, that this is reality, and I  try to breathe.
72. Panic Attacks... Since 1990. A few times a day. They last about 2 hours. Usually at night when I am trying to get to sleep. Was picked on when I was a kid. Was raped when I was older. And there was a Death of a loved one.  Female Celexa - Wchich made my heart reace & I would get more painc attacks while taking it. So they took me off it. Yes Like I was going to die. Couldn't breathe, Heart raced, Dizziness, Lots of worrying, Black outs... I use to. I was feeling better for a while. So I stopped going. Can't seem to find the right therapist... Never. I do breathing excersises that I got from therapy. They seem to work pretty good. I breath in (deep breaths) and at the same time I curl in my fingers and toes and when I exhale I uncurl my fingers and toes. I noticed it slows down my heart rate & I feel like I can breathe again.
73. yes 5 yrs history if depression male been on medications in the past, I am now taking effexor xr daily and take klonopin as needed. no my whole body starts to burn, tremors, choking sensations difficulty breathing, heart racing, light headedness, bitter taste in my mouth. difficulty speaking, feel like I am going to psas out. yes no I take klonopin right away when I feel an attack coming on.

I tried self hypnosis and just stared at any object, like a lite or fan and it helped me shorten the time.
76. yes I have had panic attacks for 20 years the longest i have had one to last is 6 hours. my atacks started the year after my granfather died he rased me as a son. male yes i have been tacking imipram anti depresion and zanax for 8 years. no my heart races away and i feel like i am leaving my body at times yes no i wright a litter to my wife this helps me a lot and i tell myself that this happen befor it happen again but writting or coloring in a coloring book seems to take my mine off the pane.
77. yes March 2002, an episode lasts around an hour, more or less.  Childhood emotional abuse female I was already on Lorazepam (ativan) for fibromyalagia becauase I couldn't sleep. Then I was put on Serzone for the panic attakcs despite the fact that it can cause severe liver problems. now I;m uppnig my dosage of lrazepam because I've been taking the Serzone for 2 1/2 months and during a real ciris, it doesn't help me.  Yes! And I think that's what starting triggering the panic attacks. I have had vertigo (or what my doctor called labrythitis) so severe sometimes that I had to go to the hospital for a shot. It got to where if I thought I felt the slightest dizzy, from walking or using the treadmill, etc. I would get panicky that I was going to have a real bad episode of vertig. A sudden jittery feeling, feeling like I'm suffocating, my pulse & heartrate go through the roof, I have to urinate every 5 minutes, not just a drop, but quite a bit. I get diarrhea and I feel like I'm going to throw up. All this & the irrational fears; the "what if's". Yes, all he wants to do is give me more dangerous drugs. never No other than doubling up onlorazepam. Sometimes listen to my Bible on tape will help as well having someone quote my favorite scriptures from the Bible.
78. yes first one, 1980. Next ones, 1996-97, not too many until 2000, then worse this year. Deaths of father, brother, mother and best friend. 1985, 1991, 2001 F xanax since first attack 1996. Stopped 1997, then very little until late 2000, almost daily, .12 to .50 mg a day.  no tingling legs, fear, unsteadiness, distress, faintness, inability to function, (frozen), pounding heart. several no slow careful breathing, self self taught that it will end, putting head down normally take xanax if i hadn't already.

I was raped when I was a young woman but the panic attacks started bfore them. female yes, I have been on nearly everything. Sereqouel, effexor, paxil, prozac, celexa, etcetera. no I have major headaches, sweating dizziness, neasea, fast heartrate, sensation as if the worst event ever happening, now occored. yes no I usually have to ride it out. Itis like a tube being filled with liquid, once liquid fills the tube it ends.

Otherwise I have refused medication yes chest pain, racing heat, missed heart beats, shivering, hot flashes, flushing, nausea, stomach cramps, pins and needles in my arms and legs, headache, clenched jaw yes NO!!! Talking myself through it, steady breathing, reading or watching something to take my mind off it, at night I sometimes use the Xanax

84. I suffer from severe panic attacks and it is starting to lead to agoraphobia I have had them for about four months now and they range from 10 seconds to half an hour. My father was pysically abbusive when I was growing up. Female I am on Aropax now and was on Luvox before Yes it happens occasionally, especially if I am in a crowded room Derealisation, racing heart, sweating, think I am going to die, blurry vision, feel like I am going to black out, neusa, dizziness, vertigo no Not really just recreational with friends but I have stopped completely now No I feel completely out of control and just have to let it run its course. I usually end up crying alot and it seems to subside after that.
