THE CARE AND TIME

I'M HERE. YOU'RE NOT ALONE!

If you have already put your mind to caring for a Quad, Then you have taken the jump into a world that can be very fulfilling, and very frustrating. Unlike Hospital, Rehab, or Nursing care, You will be working alone.. But, Hopefully, You have some one that is willing to help out. In my case the total care of Clayton is mine. My father helps with some of the house work. and anything I might need out side of Clayton's room. My husband is starting to come around after 4 years. But, He still does not want. What we have chosen to do. And being a mother with a very strong belief in family, I do what needs to be done, And I do it for the RIGHT reasons. Because, Its the right thing to do. Don't get me wrong here, There are times I wish I did not have to do the things I do, But, I do them just the same. There are things I do with my son that mentally, Can blow me out of the water, Meaning, Of all the things I have to do. (I wont get into details here), RANGE OF MOTION. Is the one duty I have trouble with. Not, Because its hard work. For reasons I can't fathom. Its doing this duty that makes my son HANDICAPPED! A lot of you will know the details of caring for a quad. And to some RANGE OF MOTION is nothing compared to the rest of the daily care routine,But, For me it is the only thing that bothers me. Clayton and I have learned a lot from each other, he has let me try quite a few thing that have proven to be of help. clayton is not cathed every 4 to 6 hours, like the dr's wanted. we worked and found out that if given the chance, Clayton found out he could tell when he had to go the the " rest room" so now, he can call me when he has to go. This can be more explaned by e-mail. you know, I looked back over all the pages and I just thought of something. Clayton was born ..5/26/70, The accident happened Nov.13, 1993. at 3:58 pm.. the car was a 1992 mustang gt. Emerald green with silver trim...

TIP #4
THERE IS AN OPERATION THAT WAS BROUGHT TO OUR ATTENTION SHORTLY AFTER THE ACCIDENT, WE DID NOT HAVE IT AND I WILL NEVER CONDONE IT TO BE DONE..CLAYTON HAS QUITE A FEW LEG SPASAMS.. THIS OPERATION WILL STOP THIS..BUT, WE BELEAVE THE LEG SPASAMS ARE ONE OF THE REASONS CLAYTON HAS NO SKIN BREAK DOWNS...CLAYTON'S SPASAMS MOVE HIM AROUND QUITE A BIT AND FOR THIS REASON AND SOME OTHER THINGS THAT ARE DONE TO THE SKIN CLAYTON HAS NO BREAK DOWNS. AS LONG AS THE SPASAMS ARE NOT HARMING THE PERSON, LET IT BE...
