There are many additional things you can do to encourage your child to develop his bilingual awareness. Do the following exercises, all in the child's minority language:

• Sing songs together
• Read nursery rhymes
• Watch videos
• Read books out loud
• Allow the child to use his own CDs
• Visit the country of the minority language with the child (if you want to foster cultural bilingualism)
• Join a local playgroup that speaks the minority language, after confirming that they do not mix languages
• Write letters
• Write stories and poetry
• Read poetry
• Draw birthday cards or design them with computer programs
