Children who become bilingual at an early age pick up the accent with little or no difficulty, whereas their parents may always suffer with their lack of a local accent.
The children thus have an appropriate accent in both the local language and their parents' language(s). They learn it with no difficulty or training.
In other cases, the child may have a minimal accent in one or both languages, but it can usually be ignored. The chance of having this accent increases with the child's age.
