Lauren Maltby Interview: Part 1- June 14th 2001
**THIS IS AN EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW! NO INFO WILL BE PERMITTED TO BE PUT ON ANY OTHER SITE***
Ask Lauren Did you like the original Zenon better
than the Zequel?-Jamie
Jamie, it's so hard to pick!! They were both so much fun to do! The
first Zenon was filmed in Canada, and the Zequel was filmed in New Zealand,
and both locations were great. Also, the people were a blast on both
projects too. I guess if I had to pick I'd say the second one, because I got to do more fun stuff, like falling in the mud!
Was it hard being mean to Kirsten while acting? -Kaitlyn
YES! When we were filming it, we'd be laughing and talking and then
they'd shout "action!" and we'd be really mean to each other, and then in
between takes we'd start goofing off again. We're really good friends, so that
made it harder to make the meanness seem real.
Was it fun being in Zenon the Zequel and Zenon girl of the 21st century? -Kaitlyn
It was so much fun!! I have a lot of great memories from both!
How old are you? -Jessica
16
How tall are you? -Jessica
5'3.5"
How did you become discovered? -Jessica
My sister saw an ad in the back of a magazine, for a "search for the
stars". She really wanted to do it, and my parents said they'd take her (and me if I wanted to go), which I did. They called me back because they thought I
had potential, and from there I took some classes, and started working!
Is it hard being an actress? -Jessica
Yes, it's hard, but it's so much fun I forget that it's hard! There are
long
hours and it's very tiring sometimes, and a lot of characters are hard
to
play, but where else do you get to play dress-up and make-believe for
work? :)
I would like to know whether you like art, and if
so what artists in particular? -John
I do like art, although I admit I'm not very well educated in that
arena. I
guess for artists I really like Thomas Kinkade, and if you want to call
architecture a form of art, I like gothic architecture (like the Notre
Dame
cathedral in France), and I also like stuff from the Renaissance period
(I
got to see the original Mona Lisa this year in Paris, it was amazing).
I you like literature, and if so what authors?
-John
I LOVE literature!! For poetry, I really enjoy T.S. Elliot and John
Keats
(Ode on a Grecian Urn, etc.). And for actual books, I really liked the
Tim
LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins "Left Behind" series, along with C.S.
Lewis. I
really like to read historical fiction too, because I like history so
much
(Francis Rivers).
What kind of music do you like and do you play any
instruments? -Joey
COUNTRY! Along with Contemporary Christian Music and pop.
I play the acoustic guitar, I'm not very good, but I really enjoy it.
What are your hobbies besides acting? -Unknown
Hmmm, I enjoy running cross country, photography, GUITAR, my friends,
and if
you want to call it a hobby, I really like helping with mentally
challenged
kids, like autistic kids.
Do you have any other acting jobs lined up for
2001? -Unknown
Not as of yet. Still planning on doing Movie Surfers shows this year
though!
Is there going to be a 3rd Zenon movie? -Unknown
I don't know, there's a better chance of there being one if you guys
write in
to Disney Channel and tell them how much you liked the Zequel (and
Margie!)!
You can contact them from www.zoogdisney.com.
Lauren, I am an aspiring actress, and my dream is
to star in a movie with you.... and the Olsen twins!!!
Do you have any advice on what to do and how to get
started? -Michelle
Keep practicing!! Hone your craft, if you can't be on t.v. right now,
then
keep doing theater and other acting jobs that you can get. Call up the
SAG
office and see if they can get you more information on how to get
head-shots
or an agent.
How did you get involved with the Movie Surfers?
Is it fun? -Peter
Peter, I've been on Movie Surfers for three or four years now (long
time!).
I auditioned a long time ago and they asked me to be the show, and then
they
re-designed the show with some new kids, and I'm still on it. It's so
much
fun, those guys are great to work with!
Who is the most famous person you know or have
met? -Jennie
Hmmm, 'famous' is a relative term, so I don't know who you guys
consider
famous... Johnathan Taylor Thomas, Jessica Beil (7th Heaven, Mary),
Beverely
Mitchell (7th Heaven, Lucy), Barry Watson (7th Heaven, Matt), Mya,
Krystal
(both pop stars), several of the cast members from Boy meets World,
mellisa
Joan Hart (Sabrina in Sabrina the Teenage Witch), Peter Strauss, and a
few
others...
Is Tom wright nice..what is he like? - Unknown
Tom Wright is a very nice guy! What's he like? He's like TOM! I don't
know
how else to describe him!
Hi Lauren, Did you appear in any commercials when
you were younger and what are some recent jobs you
have done? - Jackie N.
I did appear in several commercials when I was younger... I think they
might
still be airing my episode of "one World" on NBC, and I just did a
guest
voice over spot on a show called "The Proud family"
Lauren, are your feet ticklish? kazuma316
Yes, but shhhh, don't tell!
What was it like to work with the cast of Zenon?
-Nina
Nina, it was a lot of fun! They were all really warm and friendly, and
good
to work with!
Do you have a fanmail address where ur fans can
write to you for an autographed picture? -Terri
There should be an address on zoogdisney.com under the movie surfer
window
there, and if there isn't then you can write to:
Lauren Maltby
c/o C.E.D.
10635 Santa Monica blvd.
Los Angeles, CA 90025
If you could chose one celebrity to work with in a
movie, who would you chose? -Natasha
Hmmm, I don't know! Maybe Julia Roberts or Richard Gere or Mel
Gibson... oh!
Russel Crowe and Ben Affleck, definately them!
If you could play a character in any movie, which
character would it be and why? -Natasha
the President's daughter in "Air Force One", because it would've been a
really challenging role.
What was your favorite part of making the movie,
Zenon the Zequel? -Natasha
Probably... getting to see a lot of the country-side of New Zealand; my
favorite scene was the one on the ridge when I tell Zenon why I'm
always so
mean.
Lauren, do you ever want to come back to Rancho
Bernardo High School and visit you old friends down
here? -rwilner@hotmail.com
Of course! Actually, I'll be down there next week to see one of my
friends
from SD!
