Editorial

Yet again Saturday was a poor day weatherwise. It certainly challenged those intent on photography
but those photos that I took I rather like, I hope you do !

The M A N' s of Stagecoach Oxford continue to give service on the 7A and 7B plus we have a photo
of one of the 32B to Didcot on Sunday.
It is also interesting to note that a new vinyl has been produced for Bus Points
which fits more neatly on the front. It does however mean that M A N identity is lost.

During the past weekend a surprise performer on the 3 to Rose Hill was
Volvo/Paladin 909 (just missed a photo!). Also a Volvo B6 , 331, was on the X31 to Didcot.

Wycombe Bus was host to another stranger, a minibus from London General.
I don't have anymore details and it had gone back before I could catch up with same.

We include a couple of Oxford/Wycombe buses undergoing overhaul to show
the quality of work performed by Oxford Bus - Engineering Excellence.

Finally a couple of surprises were in store at Horspath Depot of Stagecoach.
The first was a visit from Stagecoach Midland Red, 912 - a Leyland Olympian
- which had been helping out with Brookes University contract,
second was a trainer bus from East Midland, 1010
and third another Dart has arrived from London, this time P629PGP from Selkent.
This now carries Oxford vinyl's and is renumbered 729.

We hope you continue to like this short section, which will give us the opportunity
to comment on the local scene in an informal way. Please e-mail  Malcolm Crowe with any comments.

Saturday 31st October 1998 sees Wycombe Bus 231 undergoing body overhaul in Cowley road works.
This follows 235 which also had a major overhaul. New wheel arches are a feature of this overhaul.

A rear view of 514 shows the Dart with Marshall bodywork nearing the end of its first major overhaul since entering service.
It is nice to see the blue line retained above the windows which seems to set off the livery very well.

An interesting gathering of Oxford vehicles including several Marshall bodied Darts and
one of the three remaining Titans.

Another view of Oxford on a wet Saturday. This time we show Charlton Services TJI 6278.
This is a Leyland Tiger/Plaxton Paramount 3500 once with Brighton & Hove as their C378PCD
It is followed by one of the new Arriva Olympians inbound from Aylesbury on service 280.

Visiting coaches to Oxford.

Kilby-NIW2309.jpg (43201 bytes)

NIW2309 is a Van Hool bodied Leyland Tiger which still has the traditional Leyland wheel trims.
Many operators have replaced these trims on Leylands with the "more modern" Volvo style trims.
This visitor is from Bournemouth and is operated by Kilby's.

Photo Miscellany contains updated photos which are added from time to time.
New photos were added on 16/4/98.

THE OXFORD BUS MUSEUM

An interesting report appears in latest issue of Preserved Bus
about the recent recreation of Route 75 Oxford-High Wycombe.

Look in our archive pages for our own pictures of the event.
