News from Oxford, High Wycombe
& the surrounding areas

last updated Sunday, March 7th 1999 - 2200hrs

A quiet week newswise with only the significant new deliveries due in the Spring to look forward to.

However there is always something of interest if you look around and one item of news is that Stagecoach Oxford is in the process of re-registering its N reg Volvo Tube coaches with VC marks. All seven coaches will be done (N41-43/45-48MJO) and three have so far been done (See the fleet list). So keep your eyes open for further ones in the coming days.

OXFORD BUS COMPANY.

We include a couple of pictures of interest this week showing how good the presentation of this fleet is. It is also noted that 17 out of the 20 Trident chassis are now at Alexander Falkirk and bodying will start in week 13.  As previously mentioned they are to be:

101-120    T101-120DBW    Dennis Trident II's with Alexander ALX400 low height bodywork.
(These buses will be 13'8" to enable them to pass under Botley Road bridge on the 400 service.)
First deliveries will go on to the 300 service, Redbridge to Pear Tree. Deliveries are expected to start in May and be complete by July.

 STAGECOACH OXFORD.

Once again we caught up with 521, the Olympian in overall advertising livery. The picture this week is better and it makes a brave sight in and around Oxford.

A surprise bus at work was 715, an ex London Wright bodied Dart, which was on the 103. This is larger than its fellows, 746 and 747 which seat only 29.

Still no news on the impending delivery of the new Tube coaches week ending 6/3/99.

Although only 4 of the Volvo buses in Oxford came from the North East, one is decked out in
advertising livery for the Citylink services and 628 normally works 2 road very often with
its regular driver, John.

521 one week later in heavy rain on Saturday 6th March does however provide for
a better picture of its overall advertising livery. The front remains in corporate livery.
