Editorial

Delivery continues of the M A N' s for Stagecoach Oxford.  915-917/20   S915-917/20CFC having arrived during the past week and now being prepared for service with 913/4. 920 has a BLUE roof and 918 and 919 also are similarly adorned. Some of the foregoing will go into service on Monday 12th October and the 7b is expected to be the first route to receive the new buses. we can also now expect the Devon bound SLF Darts to depart very shortly. These will be 806-11. We are pleased to bring some better photos of the new arrivals and 913 is the only bus so far to have an
M A N badge. Seating is for 42 or 39 with 1 wheelchair. Standing is for 28 or 35 accordingly.  We have also included a picture of the driving position on 913 for reference. These buses have a very low driving position and I am told that nearside vision is hampered by the bonded glass which creates a "window like" effect when watching the nearside through the mirror.

The Oxford Brookes University contract is being serviced by 514 and 516 with the reserve bus being 551, SCN251S. Pictures of these buses appear this week with 516 being seen on the 7A as a stop gap measure last Saturday. Loading have been reported as excellent and all seems to be going well.

A most interesting Sunday was provided by employees of Wycombe Bus who held a Routemaster Running Day in aid of charity and two former Wycombe based Routemaster were in use, one being from London Central (RML2411) and one from London General (RML2412). Pictures of the event are included in this report and west Wycombe saw both an RT and an RML operating the 305 ! There were a number of visiting buses including Routemaster RM6, 8 and 9 ! Services were operated to a timetable on routes 305 (West Wycombe), 363(Penn) and 455(Beaconsfield Old Town). It all proved to give a most enjoyable and well organised event. Wycombe Bus, Phil Clarke and Richard bond are to be congratulated along with all those involved including the owners of visiting vehicles and the other companies who supported the event.

We have also included some coach activity in Oxford this week, including advertising which has begun to appear on National Express liveried coaches.

We hope you continue to like this short section, which will give us the opportunity to comment on the local scene in an informal way. Please Email  Malcolm Crowe with any comments.
