Saturday saw the opportunity for your
correspondent to get up to date. Still warm weather and another St Giles Fair
was over. This week we hope that we have improved the News Page by the
introduction of Thumbnails for the photos. Download is quicker and you need only
look at those photos which interest you. Just click on the photo in question.
Thames Travel, making a success of the X39, have placed a V registered Mercedes/Vario in service. V399SVV is seen loading in Oxford bound for Henley last Saturday morning.
Oxford Cityline have added a fourth Volvo B10B to the X3 fleet and 619 has now gained full livery for this service. Indeed from Monday 13th, this service becomes a fifteen minute service during the daytime , Monday through Saturday. Amended blind are now appearing on the four buses to show Oxford Rail Station - express. Stagecoach has introduced the X30 to compete serving Peachcroft Estate and Adingdon. In the picture below we see Dennis/Plaxton 902 preceding Oxford's 619 last Saturday morning.
A surprise on the Wycombe front is the repainting of 227 in a new version of the Travelwise livery. From the back it is almost a Park&Ride livery !! It is expected to reach Wycombe later this week.
Stagecoach were to lose all their dual door Darts but some still remain. Here we see 784 en route to Didcot on the 32 service.
One seems not to see rear views of buses so very often. We correct this with a view of Oxford Tour BFS14L. As Edinburgh has being replacing the older Atlanteans with cascaded Olympians, these fine old buses may not have much longer for the streets of Oxford.
The old and the new compared is always interesting and we show below the differences between the old Alexander 227 and the new 110 ! As mentioned above 227 still retains Park&Ride green over most of its body.
The ex London VNs continue to give good service, mainly on 4 road and here we see exVN2, now Oxford 645 on Elms Rise service last Saturday.
Finally Oxford Bus launch their updated Web Page this weekend and you can now view and download all their Cityline timetables using Adobe Acrobat Reader. Their site can be found at http://www.oxfordbus.co.uk
