First, to apologise for the delay in updating the page this week. Busy times with an Open Day at the Museum last Sunday and business commitments as well.
The first
of the M A N' s for Stagecoach Oxford. 913-917 S913-917CFC entered
service on Monday 12th October, serving route 7A/7B. They seem to have been well received
and bring a few extra seats to these services. They are 42 seaters instead of the 36 on
the Darts. Another arrival but not in service is 923, again with a BLUE roof as with
918,19 and 20. So far the Devon bound SLF Darts have yet to depart. These will be 806-11
and the first to go..
The Oxford Brookes University reserve bus, Atlantean AN68 251 is shown again this week,
this time a nearside view.
A pleasant day last Sunday provided the backdrop for the last open day of the year at the Oxford Bus Museum and two services were operated. One to Combe Mill with 756 and one to Woodstock which saw 191, 956 and 476 ( all in COMS livery) plus new arrival Titan 975. This bus really is in beautiful condition and your Editor took a very pleasant last ride with Chairman Graham Wareham to Woodstock and back. Two interesting visitors arrived in the shape of an ex London GS, nr 32, and Stagecoach Oxford's 910, a Volvo B10M/Plaxton Paladin.
We also include some photos of the recent Friends of the Oxford Bus Museum Annual Run when route 75, Oxford-High Wycombe was recreated. This is nicely reported in the current issue of Preserved Bus.
Finally Oxford Bus have received the first of two GAS buses on loan for a three month period. An evaluation will take place on 15 road after which the company may review its future vehicle policy. The bus in question is R29GNW, a DAF SB220 with Northern Counties bodywork seating 41 or less with wheelchair usage. Pictures are included in this report and the bus is expected to enter service in about two weeks time after type training for the drivers.
We hope you continue to like this short section, which will give us the opportunity to comment on the local scene in an informal way. Please Email Malcolm Crowe with any comments.
