News
from Oxford, High Wycombe
& the surrounding areas
last updated Sunday, December 20th 1998 - 2200hrs
Only 4 shopping days to Christmas and then we are into the Sale time. The year end has brought a few surprises and we bring you some interesting photos this week.
The last few days have seen the arrival of five Leyland Olympians in Oxford which are destined for The Wycombe Bus Company, which needs extra short term capacity. The buses concerned are ex London & Country Roe bodied versions and are from the TPD...X batch delivered new in 1982. There are in very good condition and after some minor bodywork tidying up and a full repaint will enter service at High Wycombe.
We include also some interesting pictures of the latest arrivals at the Oxford Bus Museum, including the bus used in The Spice Girls Film. This vehicle should prove a most interesting addition to the Museum collection. Also arriving at Long Hanborough is an ex Oxford Bristol RE, number 87, one of the DP variety, which when new operated the London services.
On the Stagecoach front Dart SLFs 822 and 823 appear to have been withdrawn pending despatch to new homes as previously reported.
Finally The Oxford Classic Tour has gained a "new" bus in the form of an ex Lothian Alexander "Panorama" bodied Atlantean and a picture is included.
