Edible Fishbowl ... It's really more of a
procedure than a recipe but here goes! This is from Disney's Family Cookbook. 6- 3 oz. pkg. blueberry Jell-O
1 C. blueberries or grapes
Prepare Jell-O in mixing bowl according to directions and pour into
a new or well cleaned goldfish bowl. Drop in blueberries or grapes when
in the Jell-O so they go to the bottom like gravel. When the whole thing
starts to jell, use a wooden skewer to push gummi fish into different parts
of the bowl. If you're going to be able to supervise the serving, you could
even add a plastic diver man, or whatever else your imagination says. Hope
this makes sense!
Eggshell Chalk ... Easter eggs aren't
just for Egg Salad anymore!!! 4-5 eggshells
1 t. flour
1 t. very
hot tap water
food coloring (optional)
Wash & dry eggshells. Put into bowl and grind into a powder. A
mortar and pestle works fine for this. Discard any large pieces. Place
flour and hot water in another bowl and add 1 tablespoon eggshell powder
& mix until a paste forms. Add food coloring if desired. Shape &
press mixture firmly into the shape of a chalk stick, and roll up tightly
in a strip of paper towel. Allow to dry approximately 3 days until hard.
Remove paper towel & you've got chalk! Eggshell chalk is for sidewalks
only.
Juice Cubes ... I remembered these
as a kid, so of course my kids have to do it! juice of choice
ice cube tray
cellophane
large rubber band
toothpicks
Pour juice into ice cube trays. Put a large piece of cellophane over
the ice cube tray and, with more than one set of hands, put rubber band
over it so the cellophane stays VERY tight. Poke a toothpick through the
cellophane into each cube. Freeze completely.
Party Punch 64 oz. can Pineapple juice
2 Liter Lemon-lime soda
1/2 gallon Orange or Raspberry sherbet ice cream
1 pkg. frozen fruit
2 oranges
1 lb dry ice
Scoop ice cream into large punch bowl. Pour in juice. Mix in fruit
and slices of oranges. Slowly pour in soda. Be careful not to let the carbonation
rise over the edge of punchbowl. Right before your guests arrive carefully
drop in block of dry ice to chill and add a spooky mist.
Peanut Butter Nuggets ...
Cookie
Recipe.com... Makes 2 dozen 2/3 C. crushed corn flakes
1/2 C. shredded coconut
1/2 C. smooth peanut butter
2 T. honey
Mix 1/2 cup corn flakes, coconut, peanut butter and honey together.
Shape into small balls and roll them in the remaining corn flakes. These
cookies can be put in the fridge to firm up. They also freeze well.
Potpourri ... Great idea for Grandparents
Day.
Rose petals
1 T. cloves
1 T. nutmeg
1 T. cinnamon
1/4 C. brown sugar
1 oz. orris root (can be purchased from the drug store)
Spread fresh rose petals on a paper towel and let dry for 1 week. Mix
all ingredients gently together and place in a jar or bowl.
Ramen Noodle Soup ... Brittainy makes this.
I like it because there are no cans to open for cuts, no knives to use
and no stove just the microwave. 1 pkg. Ramen noodles (you pick the flavor)
2 C. water
left over veggies from the fridge
Put the whole package of Ramen noodles in a brown bag. Use fist or
bottom of plastic cup to break the noodles up. In a 4 cup measuring bowl,
add Ramen noodles, season packet and left over veggies to water and "nuke"
for 4 minutes. Remove from microwave and let sit for 5 minutes. Brittainy's
favorite is shrimp flavor with peas.
Soft Pretzels 1 - 16 oz. loaves frozen bread dough, thawed or fresh bread dough
1 egg white, slightly beaten
1 teaspoon water
Coarse salt
Separate thawed bread into 12 - 1 1/2" balls. Roll each ball into a
rope 14 1/2" long. Classic pretzel shape is not a must. Letters, numbers
hearts, stars, etc. can be made. Put pretzels one inch apart on greased
cookie sheet. Let stand for 20 minutes and brush with combined egg white
and water. Sprinkle with coarse salt. Place a shallow pan containing 1"
of boiling water on bottom rack of oven; bake pretzels at 350 degrees on
rack above water for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
