Milking

Parlor

From the holding area, the cows then enter the milking parlor and get milked. At Dairyfield Farm, we use flush cleaning. That is, we flush the barn with water to clean it. Three times a day, when the cows are being milked, a worker will pull a handle that then releases the pressure of some valves that rise from the floor and water comes bursting out and cleans the barn. In these two pictures, the flush was not working for four days, and so the barn was only cleaned once a day with a bobcat that doesn’t do such a great job.

Please do excuse the uncleansliness of these two pictures, on most all other days, the cows are perfectly clean. Really, its true, come visit and I can almost guarantee that our cows are so clean, they could actually be taken to the county fair as is.
