Think of an information group as a reference book, such as a dictionary or an encyclopedia. You can read it from cover to cover if you like - and then you'll be very knowledgeable. However, most people let it sit on the shelf without using it but with the comforting feeling that when they do need information it will spring into action.
A reference source does not have to provide a constant flow of information. It usually remains quietly on your the shelf until you need it. Then it springs into action and it helps you get the answer that you want. Having done its job, it then returns to the shelf until the next time that you need information.
Information groups are like that. They don't require a constant stream of talk but when you're ready for them they are there to help you and then they settle back and wait for the next query.
Although a considerable amount of time may elapse between each time that you use that dictionary or forum, you may feel deprived without it, when you do need it.
That's the way we run these groups.
