A Poem
by Andrea Bocelli
I was very moved by this piece of poetry that Andrea has written for his son Matteo, and I wanted to share it with you.

English Translation :
While, as a giant, within my arms,
proud and happy I hug my little boy
and the tender body, innocent,
fragile and alive as a small bird
against my chest presses, abandoning himself,
quiet and secure, half asleep.
For that instant, almost sweetly,
appears to me in a dream, my destiny.
In this way I see myself as old and resigned,
seated there in front of the fireplace,
expecting, with the anxiety of a baby,
the evening.
To feel him suddenly
re-enter with the gift of a smile,
of a word, of a politeness
and as a promise that consoles
the immense joy of his caress.
Then I shake myself and already have forgotten,
but inside of me, the soul enraptured;
I realise that baby just born,
already is worth more than my own life.
