So I had finished my journey...hadn't I? I was a princess, with servants and clothes, jewels and crowns - but no Dimitri. Was it TRULY love at this point? Was I supposed to stay with my heritage, my name, and birthright? Or did I belong with Dimitri? Only a talk with Grandmama and a chase after Pooka could show me the way

Coronation Ball
Marie sent for Dimitri. "The 10 million rubles are yours -- as promised -- with my gratitude."
But Dimitri no longer wanted the money. He wanted something that money could not buy. He loved Anya.
"Young man, where did you get that music box?" Marie asked. When he didn't answer, she said, "You were the boy, weren't you? You saved her life, and mine. Now you've restored her to me, yet you want now reward. Why the change of mind?"
"It was more a change of heart," he replied sadly as he bowed and steped out of the room. As he walked down the grand staircase he saw Anya.
"Hello, Dimitri," she said, "Did you collect your reward?"
"My business is complete." he said as he bowed to her and left.
Dimitri told Vlad that he'd be going back to St. Petersburg since he knew he didn't belong here in Paris with Anya.... Anastasia, and he knew there would be no way they could be together, and he wanted the best for her because he loved her so much.
That night, Empress Marie held a ball to celebrate the return of her granddaughter. Anya peeked gloomily through the curtain at the couples waltzing around the room.
"He didn't take the money," Marie told Anya.
Anya couldn't believe it -- she had thought the money was all he ever wanted!
"You will have to decide what to do, my darling," Marie said. There was no place for Dimitri out there in that glittering crowd, and no place for him beside the Grand Duchess Anastasia... "But whatever you choose," she continued, "I will hold you in my heart always."
Anya heard Pooka barking. She stepped outside and called for him.
