Vladimir (often called Vlad) is a jolly, kind-hearted ex-aristocrat of the Russian Imperial Court.  He may be Dimitri's best friend and partner in crime, but Vlad is really all heart and sentimentality, and the first to recognize the "unspoken attraction" between Dimitri and Anya.
