Combined Roster of Soldiers who served in the 17th, 11th & 17th Arkansas Infantry CSA

NOTE: The following names and information were transcribed, compiled, and interpreted from National Archives (NARA) Microfilm Compiled Service Records of Confederate Soldiers Who Served in Organizations from the State of Arkansas (M317), rolls 153-155 and 121-124. Information for men in the 11th Arkansas Infantry may also be obtained from Ranks of Honor: A Regimental History of the Eleventh Arkanas Infantry Regiment & Poe's Cavalry Battalion, C.S.A., 1861-1865 by Anthony C. Rushing (1990).

It should also be noted that many of the names that appear in the microfilms are duplicate misspellings of the same individual; hence one should peruse the ENTIRE roster when looking for a particular ancestor/relative. The actual CSA service records for each individual can be obtained from either the Arkansas Historical Commission in Little Rock, Arkansas or the National Archives (NARA) in Washington, D.C.

Perhaps because I share some genetic material with the Colonel of the 11th/17th Arkansas Infantry (Col. John Griffith was the older brother of my great-grandma), but I was struck by the large number of apparent blood-kin who served together in the same companies. Truly, service in the 17th and 11th/17th Arkansas Infantries was many times a family affair.......

Enjoy!
