Diet of Choice

We want to make this perfectly clear; when we say diet of choice,

it is and was our dogs who chose which foods they preferred. Commercial foods and the Natural diet were placed in front of them for the first 10 days. They are eating what they want..........Not what we say!!!!!!

Since Garth and Taylor had so many health problems when we got them back, we started checking out alternative diets. They were both so skinny, had no flesh between their skin and bones, and when they did eat a small amount of regular dog food, it usually ended in projectile vomiting.

We found a wonderful site on the Internet, that was so informative and made a lot of sense to us. So we set out to try it. We bought all types of meats, veggies, pastas, and grains and started making our own food.

Lo and behold, all the dogs took to this new diet and in 2 weeks, Garth had put on the weight he had lost. Taylor, who is our ravenous eater, was back to her top weight in approximately 7 to 8 days, after starting this new diet. No body fat, just solid weight, less stools and their coats started having that inner glow.

We will admit, at first, Garth and Taylor were bottomless pits. The other dogs, however, ate the amount their bodies required and stopped.

Eventually Garth found his full point, but little Taylor still hasn't, to this day she would still be eating if you kept filling her plate.

We took our new diet menu into their favorite Dr. Judy. She read it over and said "Keep going , they are looking so much better and something, besides your love and caring, is working."

With this diet, dogs can eat both raw and cooked meat. We have found ours enjoy both and like the change.

People cannot believe all the different veggies our dogs consume and love; for example: lima beans, green beans, peas, corn, potatoes, carrots, broccoli, spinach, tomatoes, and mushrooms. People must be aware that some dogs cannot tolerate all veggies, much like humans, so when adding veggies, you must do it with care.

Do not toss everything in at one time. Add one or two, then try adding a new one in a few days. If one causes gas or any sign of intolerance, delete it.

Added to the meats and veggies are pasta and or rice (prefer brown).

The only additive we put in their diet is "NUPRO", which has all the vitamins, minerals and enzymes the dog needs. Along with fresh water they are offered Bil-Jac Select to munch on, if desired.

Garth is now a good 100 lbs. no fat, muscle . Taylor is about 80 lbs. of solid weight.  Casey (Aussie) who was fat has muscled up and lost the fat rolls she once had to carry around.

We must mention FASTING. It is important people.. to be aware that dogs on this diet, usually, will not eat for one day a week.

It is their natural fast, a way of giving their bodies time to cleanse itself and rest from the digestive work the body has done. Garth does it regularly. At first it worried us, but after talking to other dog owners using the Natural food, we learned it is normal and healthy.

Taylor has only missed a few meals, few and far between. Casey does her fasting once every other week. Boris, a giant 13 year old Malamute, eats what ever and when ever he wants.

All in all, we feel we have done our dogs a great favor by feeding them this diet. We have seen the changes, and they definitely are reaping the rewards.

WE DO NOT PUSH OUR DOGS FEEDING CHOICE ON OTHERS, AND DO NOT PUT DOWN OTHERS WHO PREFER TO FEED OTHER FOODS TO THEIR DOGS.

This is OUR DOGS choice, and we are totally happy with it. We are only telling about it because it is something that we believe in for OUR dogs. Our dogs also enjoy big bones to chew on, relieves tension in them, exercises the jaw, keeps teeth white, and they enjoy then.
