Index to Select Fruits.

WARNING: Be sure to remove all seeds possible before feeding to an iguana! Seeds can cause impactions, and some seeds, if crushed or broken, can be toxic!

I will be listing the following values:

I will only list raw fruits when possible. If values listed are not for raw items, it will be noted. I will not provide values for canned or frozen goods, as you can always contact the manufacturer for info. If you require more nutritional information for your iguana, I highly recommend you simply go and purchase a book! Make sure the reference you select has calcium and phosphrous as part of the nutrients listed, or you will have to go back to the bookstore and get another. Prices vary from $10 - $30 depending on how detailed a reference you want. I highly recommend one, for a healthy diet is more than just Ca:P ratios, even though Ca:P ratios are critical to an iguana diet.

Top 10 Fruits: The Highest Ca:P ratios

(NOTE: Merely having a high Ca:P does not mean this fruit is good for iguanas! Always be weary of hidden nutritional pitfalls!) I have excluded all citrus fruit from this list, for citrus fruits may be too acidic for iguana bellies and are the more obvious things to exclude from an iguana diet.

Ca:P Name

2.32:1 pricklypear
2.1:1 carissa
2:1 dried figs
2.1 kumquat
1.8:1 raspberies
1.8:1 sapodilla
1.53:1 blackberries
