Health and fitness are influenced by proper diet and exercise. However, we are all influenced - almost on a daily basis - by the "health food" industry. How many of these claims  - to better health through supplement use -  are based on unreliable scientific information. Claims about foods or supplements may be based on false information from folklore, may be built on half-truths, or may be simply outright deception.
Food faddists may make exaggerated claims for certain types of foods. These claims generally fall into five categories:
1) certain foods will cure specific conditions
2) certain foods are harmful and should be avoided
3) food combinations have special therapeutic effects
4) certain foods are very effective as reducing diets
5) certain "natural" foods can meet all body needs.

We must all be more aware of what we eat, how much we eat and more importantly - not go overboard with taking vitamin or herbal ormineral supplements - simply based on the notion that if a little is good a lot must be better.
