I thought it was about time I told you a little about My Little Corner
of the World !
In particular.....where I live and work..
and that is the largest city in New Zealand...Auckland...
For those, who for some strange reason,
don't know, New Zealand is situated in the
South Pacific, and has a population of over
3 million. More than 1 million of these people
live in Auckland in an area of 580 sq.kms making
it one of the largest geographical cities in the world.
Auckland is located in the northern/central
region of the North Island of New
Zealand. The
City lies across an 11km wide volcanic
isthmus separating two harbours.
The Waitemata to the east
opens into the Hauraki Gulf and
the Pacific Ocean.
The Manukau Harbour to the west
opens to the Tasman Sea, and offers
many estuaries and surf beaches.
Our Auckland Harbour is a boaties paradise
for all types of boats.

Round the Bays Fun Run
This is run along the Waitemata Harbour every year in March.
The course is 8.5 km long and is flat. Every year thousands
take part in this run which caters for people of all abilities.
Many walk,
some run, some are pushed, and some are in wheelchairs.
This run has had the record for the largest run in the world, and
is still the
second largest. Last year an estimated 70000 people ran.
Participants pay an entry fee of $10 which goes to various charities,
such as the Starship Childrens Hospital, the Crippled Childrens
Society etc.
