As you probably already know, I live in
New Zealand, which is in the South Pacific, and
has a population of more than 3 million.....
So.....now you know where we are!!
I am going to show you a little of our beautiful country....
Our national symbol is the Kiwi, a flightless nocturnal bird, which
is the sole survivor of an ancient order of birds, including the
now extinct moas.
Kiwis are about the size of a chicken and weigh between 3 and 9 pounds.
They have no tail and small 2 inch wings, which, for all practical
purposes, are useless.
A Kiwi can actually outrun a human, and have managed to survive
because of their alertness,
and their sharp three-toed feet, which enable them to kick and slash
their enemies.
The Kiwi feeds on insects, grubs and worms, also seeds, berries
and worms.
There are 5 kinds of Kiwi in New Zealand.
