Mycalesis fusca fusca (Malayan Bush
Brown)
The
Malayan Bush Brown is one of the more distinctive of the Mycalesis species
in that its undersides are ochreous brown crossed by two reddish brown
stripes. The butterfly is the least common of the genus in Singapore, and
usually, individuals are encountered on the forest edge.
This specimen is feeding on the
ripened inflorescence of the Singapore Rhododendron (Melastoma malabathricum).
