The
Common 4-Ring is almost as abundant as two other species of the Ypthima
species featured on this website. It is much smaller in size when
compared with the Common 3-Ring and Common 5-Ring but is often found in
the same localities. The caterpillar of this species is also believed
to feed on grasses.
It is a weak flyer and keeps close
to the ground most of the time, except when feeding on flowering creepers.
The species, like its other cousins are regarded as drab and "unattractive"
butterflies and often ignored by most observers. |
