Moderated by the Pacific, western Oregon is mild enough to grow with success some beautiful palms.

There are:

Trachycarpus fortunei:These are the most common. I've seen them get quite tall in certain areas. / / /

Chamaerops humilis:Used somewhat, but I have never seen a tall one in Oregon. / /

Phoenix canariensis:These do quite well on the south coast, some very tall. / / /

Washingtonia filifera:This is one of the least common, large specimens in Southern Oregon and the coast. / /

Washingtonia robusta:Being grown on the coast, less reliable inland. /

Sabal minor:Low growing and slow growing, rarely planted yet attractive. /

Butia capitata:Being grown at the coast, maybe eleswhere too. /

Syagrus romanzoffianum: Seldom used, but hardy on the Southern Oregon coast. /
