Tribute To The Black Cat

T'was the week before Halloween when our black cat lost his life
Someone foolish hurt him so badly that he died.
Anyone who's lost a pet cat must wonder where it goes
When the life within him leaves the body at its death.

You've gone to a place not far from here  where
the weather is warm
throughout the year

Where the grass is green and the sky is so blue
Where it is never quite dark, or never quite light
The Place you are in has cats here and there
        with peaceful purring sounds everywhere!

There are catfood cans stacked as tall as the sky
Where the water bowls are never left dry
And there's mice here to chase, but they never get hurt
        all over this place.

As you look down you see that your old wound is gone
Your body, once lifeless was made again strong.
Amazed you gazed at the pool of blue fleck
Where the cats here can swim, and never get wet
And tall trees to climb, with wide fields of Catnip

Something's missing you think as you walk down a path
Suddenly you see a gold bridge up ahead

Rainbow colors shine from it as you get closer
Then a cloudiness forms, stops your way across the bridge.
And a beautiful Angel suddenly appears.

"Shadow" she says in a voice so sweet
"Your in a place where you must wait."
Then another cat whisked by so fast across the bridge
The clouds parted and a Sunshine burst in.

Then Shadow saw what was in store
The cat was reunited with his family once more.

The joy, the peace made Shadow happy again
So he ran the tall grass by the streams of deep blue
Where the cats here can swim, and never get wet
And tall trees to climb, with wide fields of Catnip

A Cat came to him, Shadow was surprised to see
She was purring so loudly, happy as he

It was his long lost mate Samantha, who he was trying to find
        The same day he died.

The two cats together they both ran with joy
over the fields of green, near the streams of blue
Where the cats here can swim, and never get wet
And tall trees to climb, with wide fields of Catnip
