A Tail of Two
Cats?
Kasey was found in a neighbor’s
boat. He was the runt of the litter and had to be fed with a dropper. He was
so small, we first named him Katie! Now he is the biggest of the litter (most were
adopted by neighbors) weighting 19 pounds! He’s 8 years old, but Katie keeps
him acting like a kitten.
Katie was found in an apartment
building. She wandered the apartment looking for food; mostly eating garbage.
Someone had cut her whiskers! She was under 2 pounds and we thought she was
a 6 week old kitten. When we first brought her home, she would meow loudly
at closed doors and if she was ignored, she would scratch at the door. When
we took her to the vet, we found out she was 8 month's old! That was 4 years
ago and she now weighs 8 pounds and is a very healthy and one of our 2 loved
cats.
And this is my tale of how we ended up with
two cats! Now I have four cats! My daughter moved out for 3 months and when
she moved back she brought two kittens. Here's some buttons of all my cats (named
after them-with a Shiloh and Dillon being the new kittens):
The first one is Shiloh who kind
of looks like Katie, then Kasey who likes to beg at the stove, and finally Dillon
who's going to be as big as Kasey. Dillon is the only one that doesn't have
the tuxedo look, he just has a white collar. Dillon made friends with Kasey
first who stuck up for him when Katey (who didn't really want any more cats
in the house) would hiss at them. They all get along better now (finally) and
I bought myself a "Littermaid" automatic kittie litter and it's great!
Sad update for the year 2000. Sorry
to say that I lost Kasey to kidney failure. Not sure why it happened since we
fed them food low in magnesium, etc. (science diet and max cat) and he seemed
healthy until he got sick.
Update 2001: The boys are 3 years
old now. They are the most talkative and loving cats we have had. Katie still
doesn't tolerate them but she is 9 years old and they are too frisky for her.
They also weigh almost twice as much as she does!
Update 2003: Katie has now joined
Kasey in Cat Heaven. We missed her sadly as do the other two cats. Here is a
tribute to Katie.
They wonder where she went and Shiloh has become more dominant (if that was
possible) and Dillon is showing signs of displacement. Hopefully just giving
both more love and attention will take care of that. The boys Shiloh and Dillon
are 5 years old now and very spoiled!
P.S.: Below are special announcements
and some of the causes I believe in. I just added a second page as I'm sure the list
will continue to grow.
