These first set of recipes were handed down to my father (who I miss greatly) from my Grandparents (who were born in Italy):

2 12-oz cans Tomato Paste, 6 cans water, 1 sm. onion, 1 section garlic, tblspn: sweet basil, oregano Tsp: celery salt, black pepper, salt, sugar, red pepper, & 1/5 cup olive oil. Mix in pot, & simmer about 6 hours! Stir at least on hour-towards end, stir more often. A splatter screen on top of pot is nice! |
1 12 LB Hamburger, 5 slices bread (or crackers), 2 eggs, sprinkle pepper, garlic, sweet basil, salt to taste , diced onions. Mix & bake in 375 degree oven about 1 hr. Add to sauce at least (I do 2-3 hours) 1/2 to 2 hours before eating. |
Simmer for 30-45 minutes in covered pan with 1/4 cup of water - turn often. Add to sauce instead of (or with) meatballs at least 1/2 to 2 hours before eating. |
Make Spaghetti Sauce above. Simmer for 2 hours. Add the following: 3-5 cooked, sliced hot Italian sausages, and 1 LB cooked, crumbled hamburger. Chop & add: 1 zucchini, 1 onion, 1 peeled eggplant, 1 green bell pepper, 3-5 hot banana peppers ( leave seeds in to make hotter). Add 1 sm. can mushrooms (drained). Continue to simmer 4 hours. Stir often-at least every 1/2 hr & more last hour. |
Take your leftover spaghetti sauce, mix with leftover meatballs (or add crumbled cooked hamburger), sausage, pepperoni slices. Can also add hot peppers. Mix with pasta (small shapes) & bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes, stirring often (making sure it doesn't get too dry-use extra sauce) Top with mozzarella cheese and bake another 5-7 minutes! |
Slice french bread, spread with butter (or butter & garlic), sprinkle with parmesan & top with mozzarella cheese & bake at 350-375 degrees for 5-7 minutes! Another way is to use frozen rolls, raise & roll flat, spread with garlic butter, & let raise an hour, top with mozzarella cheese & bake at 350 for 20 minutes. Dunk into sauce! |

Mix 1 cup buttermilk & creamed mixture. Place in fridge for 1/2 hour. Place on floured surface, roll & cut donuts. Deep fry 375 degrees until brown. *might need more flour while rolling & cutting. Can roll in sugar too! |
Mix 1 cup softened butter (marg.works), 1 cup veg.oil, 1 cup granulated sugar, 1 cup powder sugar, 1 tsp. vanilla, 2 beaten eggs, 1 tsp. baking soda. Set aside. Mix 4 1/2 cups flour, 1 tsp. cream tarter, 1/2 tsp. salt, add to creamed mixture. If you want to roll out & cut out cookies-place in fridge for 1/2 hour. Start with either 1 frozen Rhodes bread loaf or 12 Rhodes bread rolls. Thaw about 5 hours. Brush 9 X 13" pan with 1 tblspn butter. Combine 2 tblspn butter (melted) with 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1 tblspn light corn syrup & spread in pan. Can sprinkle with pecans. Roll out dough on floured or oiled surface & brush with 1 tblspn butter. Sprinkle with 1/4 cup brown sugar and cinnamon. Roll up into long roll. Cut into 12 pieces (place side down), cover & let raise 1 hour (double size). Bake 350 degrees 15-20 minutes. Cool 1 minute, loosen edges & invert onto wire rack lined with waxed paper. Best eaten same day! |
