12 October 1999 Is the screen size of Palm-size PCs adequate for the needs of users? This was the question we asked in our latest reader survey. 58% responded that it was, while a surprisingly large 40% said that it was too small to meet their requirements. The remaining 2% said that their screen size was more than adequate. If you participated in our recent reader survey, please check out the Paragraph website to see if you were one of the five lucky winners of a free copy of the Paragraph Calligrapher 5.3 handwriting recognition application. In this week's survey we're asking if you use the Voice Recorder feature on your Windows CE device. We look forward to receiving your answers. 11 October 1999 It's great to be back from my long break and I feel newly energized to recommence work on the Wincebiz website. A good job too, because while I was traveling in the US I was lucky enough to get my hands on an Aero 1500 -- the new ultra-slim Palm-size PC from Compaq. What's my opinion of it? Please check out the review I've posted. I was sorry to read on CNet last week that Philips has decided to pull the plug on the Nino. The original Nino 300 Series was, in my opinion, a very nice machine, and Philips made huge efforts (and spent massive sums) to promote it on the market. It's a pity that they weren't as successful as they'd hoped in selling it. 17 September 1999 Now that he's finished his book, Windows CE Made Simple, Craig Peacock has been very busy redesigning his home page. And an excellent job he has done, too: The site has a clear and easy-to-navigate layout and is packed with the latest Windows CE Palm-size PC information. My favorite part of his site is the Links section, which now features a massive 1077 links to Windows CE hardware, software, and accessories vendors, as well as newsgroups and article about CE. Definitely worth a look! Another site that has caught my attention is the new Thinkmobile home page. This covers everything from mobile phones and wireless services to notebooks and Windows CE devices. A great resource for the mobile professional. |
