Sources from Everex say that they cannot get enough of the screens to ship any new Freestyle 540s and Microsoft's group product manager Phil Holden admitted that the release of the Wyvern generation has been delayed "by a couple of weeks,".

Brian Phillips an analyst with the market research firm ARS commented "Everyone's basically having screen shortages," leaving speculation to the long term affects created by delaying the Wyvern release on projects like Rapier the update to the Windows CE operating system for the palm-size PC.

Sharp Electronics are the sole producers of the screens used in the color version of palm-sized PCs sold notably by Compaq, HP, Philips and Everex. Sharp uses the same screens in their own popular Nintendo Gameboy product and the Compaq Aero 2100, which may be contributing to the screen shortages.
