  CE Santa's On-Line Christmas

Santa Clause is not coming to town.

"He's downloading a list, clicking it twice, He's going to find out who's got a CE device…"

This year CBS Marketwatch.com says that more than 23 million people will do their Christmas shopping on-line, giving Santa and his overworked little elves just the helping hand they need. With increased publicity and consumer acceptance palm-size and handheld devices, not to mention CE software, should be very popular gift items this season for on-line shoppers.

Of course of those 23 million people one man stands to benefit from the convenience online shopping offers more than most. I mean would you leave the comfort of a warm fire and Mrs. Claus' home-baked cookies if you didn't have to?

Imagine this if you will:

Santa sitting in a big easy chair with his custom made "Reindeer Red" Jornada 690 dialing onto the Internet with his Christmas 2000 software pack (an Elfware easy access database to the entire human race) and peering down the list to you and your CE family.

"Lets see now… Mr. Jones, Compaq Aero 1530 owner and the consummate slob. Hmm… with the exception of a few drunken poker nights it looks like he's been a pretty good boy this year. I know just the thing! Concept Kitchen's PDA Survival Kit. Why with its 12 WriteRight Screen Protectors,12 Brain Wash packets, 1 Karma Cloth, & 4 PenCap Stylus Mr. Jones might even get an extra years use out of his Aero."

"What have we here… Mrs. Jones, NO HARDWARE! Why that' s positively criminal. We'll see what we can do about that. A Compaq Aero 2150 would do. A dash of color this Christmas is just what the Joneses need. Maybe I'll even throw in a copy of Iambic's Expense Director into her stocking so Mrs. Jones can figure out how to budget for the new year after blowing all that cash on presents for that spoiled Johnny Jones Jr."

"And speaking of little Johnny Jr., what's this I see about him failing high school math -that dimwit! While I fear a good chunk of coal in his sock would be in order I suppose a copy of Odyssey's MBA-Calc Bundle for Palm-size PCs might be more useful."

"Well now wasn't that easy. I think I might even have time left over for a quick game of Trivial Pursuit for Windows CE by Hasbro Interactive with Mrs. Claus"

It's a scary concept of how fat Santa might really get if he didn't even have to do that once a year world tour, and it might be a little depressing to see so many out-of-work Elves on the streets but it looks like Internet Christmas shopping is here to stay and CE gear is bound to be a popular purchase this season.
