I've read these so you don't have to. There are some titles that are on the tip of my tongue but can't quite remember. Sure, I should have been keeping track since Day One, but now it's Day Thirteen Hundred so we'll just have to muddle through.
Amazing Animal Actors – Pauline Bartel.
A few errors, but otherwise quite good.
Child Star: Shirley Temple - Shirley Temple Black.
An amazing story of a spoiled child.
Dogs With Jobs - Merrily Weisbord, Kim Kachanoff, DVM.
Extremely well written and interesting.
Frasier: The Official Companion Book - Jefferson Graham.
The Official Companion Book for Frasier.
Hollywood Trivia – David P. Strauss.
Letters to Strongheart – J. Allen Boone.
In the form of letters written to his late companion, superstar Strongheart, these are really Boone's spiritual ruminations about man's place in the world. Quite good.
Movie Mutts: Hollywood Goes to the Dogs – Stephen M. Silverman.
A breezy look at the topic. Some errors, but otherwise fine.
Movies of the Silent Years – Edited by Ann Lloyd.
Comprehensive essays.
Movies of the Thirties – Edited by Ann Lloyd.
More comprehensive essays.
Movies of the Forties – Edited by Ann Lloyd.
Still more comprehensive essays. (These are really good books for cinephiles.)
The Mythology of Dogs - Gerald & Loretta Hausman.
Highly recommended.
The Newfoundland – Joan C. Bendure.
Okay, so I like to read breed books. But you wouldn't know anything about Police Academy 2 if I didn't.
Pickford: The Woman Who Made Hollywood - Eileen Whitfield.
Exhaustively detailed.
The Reel List – Lynne Arany, Tom Dyja, Gary Goldsmith.
Irreverent movie lists.
Roy Rogers: King of the Cowboys – George Morris, Mark Pollard.
Lots of pictures. Roy really did want to be stuffed and placed alongside Trigger and Bullet. How cool is that?
Screwball: Hollywood's Madcap Romantic Comedies - Ed Sikov.
Excellent overview of the subject.
The Versatile Border Collie – Janet E. Larson.
Easily the best breed book I've ever seen. Comprehensive chapters about everything from health to history to agility and showing. Superb.
