"Mark" A few days ago, Mark was sitting in the living room playing video games. I figured it was a good chance for me to keep in practice with my figure drawings, so I broke out my charcoal and pad and got to work. I am rather surprised with the results of this one... |

"Leo" Again, while I was bored yesterday, I decided to sketch some of the vaguely human-shapes that live in the same house as me. Here's Leo in his natural habitat, writing yet another email to his girlfriend. |

"Cowboy" A drawing of Alan Jackson I did back in 1993, based on a photo inside one of his CDs. It came out rather well, but the original drawing is so light, it was kinda hard to scan decently. |

"Gesture 1" One of my better gesture drawings done during my Advanced Figure Drawing class at the School of Visual Concepts during winter, 1998. Charcoal pencil on newsprint. |

"Hand Study" This one came out rather well. Also done during my Adv. Figure Drawing class, in about 30 minutes. I really wish I had a few more minutes to finish it, because the back of the hand is rather blank. Done with a 6B sketching pencil on newsprint. |

"Long Gesture 2" I really think this one came out neet, even if it was just a quick gesture drawing. It took about 5 minutes to do, and I think it has kind of a "cold morning" feel to it. Vine charcoal, and also done at SVC. |

"Long Gesture 3" Sort of a "looking up in epiphany" or something. Another 5 minute gesture sketch done with vine charcoal on newsprint. |

"Nude With Column" Personally, I feel that this drawing was the best one I did in my Advanced Figure Drawing class at SVC. If you gave him a parrot, he'd be a pirate. Give him a harley, and he's a biker. Give him a column, and well, there ya go. Charcoal pencil on heavy charcoal paper. |

"Nude With Legos" This drawing was coming along quite well, up until I had to add in the giant legos (it was part of the assignment to give a sense of depth). I think the torso of the woman is a little long, but other than that it came out quite well- but I still can't look at this one without chuckling. Done at SVC in 1998 with charcoal pencil on heavy grey charcoal paper. |

"Ponderous Guy" A 15-minute extended gesture drawing, done at SVC. Vine charcoal and charcoal pencil on newsprint. A cool pose, I thought. Oh, and cool hair on the guy too. =) |

"Sleeping Dragon" A sketch I did back in March of 1993, just before graduating high school. His belly full, this massive wyrm rests up for the next time he'll have to defend his horde of treasures. |

"Sleeping Nude" Another of my more successful figure drawings from my class at SVC. This one took about 45 minutes, and was done with charcoal pencil on newsprint. It was in preparation for a colored lighting experiment done with the same pose, but on black paper with conte crayons. That one turned out excellent, but it way too large to scan decently. So make due with this one instead. ;) |

"Betrayal" Drawn w/ mechanical pencil in my sketchbook on July 4, 1993. This sinister fellow has just betrayed his childhood friend, and wears an evil smirk as he watches the man plummet to his death at the bottom of a steep ravine. I think it was inspired by the anime film, "Fist of the North Star", but I could be mistaken. That was five years ago. |

"Desolate Tree" Okay, so you got me. This drawing was actually all done on the computer, using a Wacom tablet and Adobe Photoshop. That's why it's so small. But it *looked* like charcoal, so that's why I snuck it at the end of this page. Sorry about that... Still, it's a neat image. |
