We talk shits @ Pan Pacific Hotel,KL.
Politician: Hey,where have you been?
I called you a few times but you seem to be hiding some where.
Waterman: Well,I am still around-just
doing my own things.
Politician: How is your water business
going on?
Waterman: No change, just enough to survive.Last
week,I went to visit IWK wastewater treatment plant that cost almost RM
40m at Sg. Besi!To some people, shits is a good business.
Politician:So you are also interested
in shits business?.Why not you leave the shit things to us.For the past
few months,we have a lot of shits for you guys water engineers to clean! In
fact, you will need another treatment plant that cost another RM100m.
Waterman: You guys make your own shits
and I think you got to do your own cleaning. My job is to treat dirty water
from people houses and factories. We have more than enough to do.I really
pity my friends in IWK who have to handle more than 8000 plants-most of
them are not working properly.
Politician: Is it that bad?How much money
do we need to clean up our rivers?
Waterman: Well,it will take more than
ten years and a few billion ringgit. Wastewater industry was not given
due attention for the last two decades. As we progress rapidly,a lot of
damage has been done. Now,we have to pay for it.If not,we are going to have
environmental disasters and epidemics worse than the previous JE affairs.
Politician: May be we politicians have
got to do the same to our politics.
I just wonder how much it will cost
us?
Waterman: Another few billions ringgit,may
be;-
Politician: Let's us finish our drink
before I lose my appetite. The river over there just look like my
teh tarik.
Waterman: That is why I chose to have
our drink at this hotel. At least, you guys will understand what we water
engineers talk about.By the way, what happen to the Love Our River
campaign?
Politician: Forget it.Now,my priority
is to ensure my party win the coming general election.
Waterman: Good luck to you!
We love to talk about the good things in life-about our successes and not our failures;about our good deeds and not our mistakes. But bad things do surface once in a while in our life-it is unavoidable. In the kampung,we used to have 'perigi buta', usually a disused well where we throw those things we do not want any more.Hopefully, those unwanted things will be buried away and we do not wish to see and remember them.
It is the same thing in our personal life.Certain bad experiences are best forgotten and buried some where in our subconscious mind.We donot wish to remember them anymore. And hope they won't surface again.
Unfortunately they do come back just
like dirty rivers....
