Throw Away Society |
It Started out with TVs,
VCRs and such...
When importing caused prices
To be "not very much".
Then it went on to bigger things...
Even up to cars.
When fixing runs beyond the worth,
One has to wonder, "Just how far?"
What I'm talking about may be spiritual,
So, I'll pose some questions.
Maybe we can learn from it,
And pick out some lesson.
We have become impatient.
Everything has to run real smooth.
If we don't like the house,
Maybe we could just get up and move.
You can't fix the toaster,
A new one would cost less.
VCRs and TVs are the same way...
Perhaps we have a mess.
The money crosses borders,
Never to return.
It's cheaper to replace it...
So just let the sucker burn.
This may seem as no big deal,
In fact many think that it's good.
But we have gotten this certain mentality...
We'd replace Grandma if we could.
Yeah, you heard me right.
No, I didn't stutter.
If relationships now get strained,
Some would even trade their brother.
We have become too shallow.
We seek after worldly wares.
If it costs too much to fix it,
Get rid of it. Hey, who really cares?
Relationships sometimes get strained.
We need to go that extra mile.
I guess what I'm trying to explain...
We need to meet adversity with a smile.
Perhaps your marriage is on the ropes,
And you're about to call it quits.
Get to know what God would have you do.
Yes, gather all of your wits.
We're in a throw away society.
There has become no sacredness to life.
We rush on in our own little world...
With all of its anxiety and strife.
What with all these problems...
Our society seems to have a cancer.
What can we do? --- Just this:
Know that Jesus is the answer.
We can still choose what's right...
Even when others are full of impropriety.
We have to change our thinking...
And break away from our "throw away society".
