We spent two blissful weeks together, went to Daytona,FL and saw the band "LIVE". Since Patrick had never seen an alligator, we went to the Alligator Farm in St. Augustine! He also was incredibly helpful to me with assistance with my wheelchair and made me feel so comfortable about it too.
When it was time for him to leave, I was very sad, I feared that I might never see him again, after all, this whole thing was too good to be true. We said our painful goodbyes at the airport. We both hoped his plane would not show up, but, naturally, it did and he was on his way back to France.
When mother and I got home, we were curious about what he had left hidden in my room. After some serious searching, I found two flat brown paper packages. He had done a portrait of me from a picture I had sent him and a graphite drawing of a "SunLion" he had done when he was 12 Incredible, all neatly framed and carefully wrapped and special. He was too modest to give them to us while he was present.
I am very proud of Patrick's artistic talents. These two images are samples of his artwork. The first one is entitled "Pregnant". The second one is entitled "Soldier" (no, the soldier does not know her :-) Patrick created "Soldier" to illustrate the absurdities of war.
He is the most wonderful, romantic, sincere, sensitive and thoughtful man I have ever known. His laughter is contagious and he gets a twinkle in his eyes when the language barrier confuses him. A lot has happened since this first visit.He came for another month visit, we went to Disney World, he learned English, we fell deeply in love and are now trying to get him a sponsor for his work visa so he can move here and we can be together. He is coming back for the month of July 1998 to go on job interviews. We'll see what the future holds, so far everything has been falling into place, slowly but surely. We hope . . .
