Casper Van Dien

Casper Van Dien was born December 18, 1968, in Ridgefield, New Jersey, USA.

He was married to actress Carrie Mitchum (also known as Robert Mitchum's granddaughter), but they are now divorced/seperated.

The couple have two kids, son Casper Robert Van Dien and daughter Gracie Van Dien.

Casper first wanted to become a doctor, and went to Florida State University to study medicine. But after a while he asked himself: "In ten years, will I regret it if I don't try to become an actor?" And then he asked: "Will I regret it if I become an actor and not a doctor? And I said...nah." Boy are we glad he did!

  I'm a single man at the moment.
  
  
• How alike are you and Jonny Rico(His character in the blockbuster movie "Starship Troopers"?
  Well, we are both big fools for love. We make a lot of mistakes for women, and we'll always do it again.
  
  
• What mistakes have you made for love?
  What mistakes haven't I? Once, I gave away a watch. I had no money, and this guy was selling flowers on the side of the road, so I gave him this really expensive diving watych for the flowers and took them home to my girlfriend. She got really pissed that I gave my watch away. We're not together anymore.
  
  
• Do you plan on getting married again, or possibly have some more kids?
  Yes.
  
  
• What are your hobbies and interests?
  I ride horses, swim, do a lot of reading,writing. I sail, scuba dive, play football, basketball. I only sleep four hours a day--ever since I was 16. I like to do things!
  
  
• How long have you been in showbusiness?
  Eight years. I took a theatre class in college (Florida State), and I got hooked.
  
  
• If you had one wish that could be granted, what would it be?
  That everybody could have parents like mine.
  
  
• What music do you like?
  I like Zeppelin, jazz. I also two-step on occatsion. It depends on what the lady I'm with likes.
  
  
• Who do you think the most beautiful girl in the worls is?
  I though Natalie Wood was. Now, my daughter.
  
  
• Did you get good grades in school?
  If I really liked the teacher, I did. If I didn't, I didn't. I was one of those kids who didn't have to srudy hard to get an A, but if I didn't like the teacher, I just wouldn't show up.
  
  
• What is your idea of the perfect woman?
  I like an intelligent woman--someone with a sense of humor--and then, if we click... I'll tell you when I meet her.
  
  
• Do you think you are the next Bruce Willis or Sylvester Stallone?
  I think I am the next Casper Van Dien.
  
  
• Do you have a faworite movie?
  "West Side Story", because of Natalie Wood.
  
  
• Do you have a favorite TV show?
  Growing up, my favorite TV show was "Star Trek". Then it was "Star Trek: The Next Generation". I also watched a lot of football and sports. I haven't had time to watch too much TV lately. I like "X-Files", "The Pretender" and "The Tick". I also liked "Due South".
  
  
• Do you believe in aliens?
  Yes. Absolutely. I think it would be foolish to think we are the only life forms in this universe.
  
  
• When you worked on Beverly Hills 90210(he played rich kid Griffin Stone), who was nicest to you?
  As soon as I got there, Luke Perry came out of his dressing room and said: "Hey, I'm Luke Perry. Really nice to meet you, and welcome aboard." Jason Priestly did the same thing. Those guys were cool.
  
  
• Who are your favorite actors?
  Johnny Depp is a great actor. Val Kilmer does a great job in his films. Harrison Ford and Arnold Schwarzenegger are great. Robert Redford and Paul Newman are amazing. II like "no-bullshit" actors like Robert Mitchum, Clint Eastwood and John Wayne--oh, and Elvis!
  
  
• Do you hang out with stars, or are your friends mostly non-stars?
  Most of my friends are non-stars, but I have a couple of friends in the business. I don't think I'll name any names.
  
  
• What is your favorite food?
  Steak and eggs.
  
  
• If you could go out on a date with any female celebrity, who would she be?
  Oh, I wouldn't want to go on a date with a female celebrity. I'd rather go with a real woman.
  
  
• Where do you see yourself in five years from now?
  I'd like to continue to act and also produce. I've already bought a script--a love story--that I plan to produce.
  
  
• What's your best way to spend a weekend?
  Being with my kids would be the best way. We read stories, go to the zoo, go on walks, play sports, cvook dinner. We like to sit around and have a good time.
  
  
• How did you get such an unusual name?
  Every firstborn male in my family is named Casper. I guess there was some Casper guy, like, 10 generations ago who I'm named after. I'm the 11th. My son is Casper the XII.
  
  
• If you only sleep four hours per day, where do you get your energy?
  My mom's been asking me the same question my entire life. I don't drink. I don't do drugs. I eat really healthy, and if I'm tired, I take a nap.
