"You poured your soul into your pages, I cannot tell you what a impact they had on me."

~My name is not important it's my heart that really counts It's the feelings deep inside me and the love I pass around. It's the reaching out to others even when they can't reach back Knowing that I love them even when they can't love back.~

~A Place for Me~

~There is a special place in life, That needs my humble skill, A certain job I'm meant to do, Which no one else can fulfill.~

~The time will be demanding, And the pay is not too good And yet I wouldn't change it for a moment -- even if I could~

~There is a special place in life, A goal I must attain, A dream that I must follow, Because I won't be back again.~

~There is a mark that I must leave, However small it seems to be, A legacy of love for those Who follow after me~

~There is a special place in life, That only I may share, A little path that bears my name, Awaiting me somewhere.~

~There is a hand that I must hold, A word that I must say, A smile that I must give For there are tears to blow away.~

~There is a special place in life that I was meant to fill. A sunny spot where flowers grow, upon a windy hill.~

~There's always a tomorrow and the best is yet to be, And somewhere in this world, I know there is a place for me.~

~THE CREATION OF A FIREFIGHTER~

~When the Creator was making Firefighters, he was into his sixth day of overtime when a guide appeared and said, "Your doing a lot of fiddling around on this one." And the Creator said "Have you read the specification on this person?~

~Firefighters have to be able to go for hours fighting fires or tending to a person that the usual every day person would never touch, while putting in the back of their mind the circumstances. They have to be able to move at a second's notice and not think twice of what they are about to do, no matter what danger.~

~They have to be in top physical condition at all times, running on half-eaten meals, and they must have six pairs of hands." The guide shook her head slowly and said, "Six pairs of hands...no way." "It's not the hands that are causing me problems, " said the Creator, "it's the three pairs of eyes a Firefighter has to have." That's on the standard model? " asked the guide.~

~The Creator nodded. " One pair that sees through the fire and where they and their fellow Firefighters should fight the fire next. Another pair here in the side of the head to see their fellow Firefighters and keep them safe. And another pair of eyes in the front so that they can look for the victims caught in the fire that need their help."~

~"Creator" said the guide, touching his sleeve, " Rest and work on this tomorrow." "I can't, said the Creator, "I already have a model that can carry a 250 pound man down a flight of stairs and to safety from a burning building, and can feed a family of five on a meager paycheck." The guide circled the model of the Firefighter very slowly, "Can it think?"~

~"You bet," said the Creator. It can tell you the elements of a hundred fires; and can recite procedures in their sleep that are needed to care for a person until they reach the hospital. And all the while they have to keep their wits about themselves. This Firefighter also has phenomenal personal control. They can deal with a scene full of pain and hurt, coaxing a child's mother into letting go of the child so that they can care for the child in need. And still they rarely get the recognition for a job well done from anybody, other than from fellow Firefighters."~

~Finally, the guide bent over and ran her finger across the cheek of the Firefighter. "There's a leak", she pronounced. "Creator, it's a tear." "What's the tear for?" asked the guide. "It's a tear from bottled-up emotions for fallen comrades. A tear for commitment to that piece of cloth called the American Flag. It's a tear for all the pain and suffering they have encountered. And it's a tear for their commitment to caring for and saving lives of their fellow man!" "What a wonderful feature Creator, you're a genius" said the guide. The Creator looked somber and said "I didn't put it there."~

~I WISH YOU COULD SEE~

~I wish you could see the sadness of a business man as his livelihood goes up in flames, or that family returning home, only too find their house and belongings damaged or lost for good. I wish you could know what it is like too search a burning bedroom for trapped children, flames rolling above your head, your palms and knees burning as you crawl, the floor sagging under your weight as the kitchen below you burns. I wish you could comprehend a wife's horror at 3:00 A.M. as I check her husband of 40 years for a pulse and find none. I start CPR anyway, hoping to bring him back, knowing intuitively it is too late. But wanting his wife and family to know everything   possible was done too try too save his life.~

~I wish you knew the unique smell of burning insulation, the taste of soot-filled mucus, the feeling of intense heat through your turnout gear, the sound of flames crackling, the eeriness of being able to see absolutely nothing in dense smoke-sensations that I've become too familiar with.~

~I wish you could understand how it feels to go     to work in the morning after having spent most of     the night, hot and soaking wet at a multiple alarm fire. I wish you could read my mind as I respond to a building fire "Is this a false alarm or a working fire? How is the building constructed? What hazards await me? Is anyone trapped?" Or to an EMS call, "What is wrong with the patient? Is it minor or life- threatening? Is the caller really in distress or is he waiting for us with a 2x4 or a gun?"~
~I wish you could be in the emergency room as a doctor pronounces dead the beautiful five-year old girl that I have been trying too save during the past 25 minutes. Who will never go on her first date or say the words, "I love you Mommy" again. I wish you could know the frustration I feel in the cab of the engine or my personal vehicle, the driver with his foot pressing down hard on the pedal, my arm tugging again and again at the air horn chain, as you fail to yield the right-of-way at an intersection or in traffic. When you need us however, your first comment upon our arrival will be, "It took you forever to get here!"~

~I wish you could know my thoughts as I help extricate a girl of teenage years from the remains of her automobile. "What if this was my sister, my girlfriend or a friend? What were her parents reaction going to be when they opened the door to find a police officer with hat in hand?" I wish you could know how it feels to walk in the back door and greet my parents and family, not having the heart to tell them that I nearly did not come back from the last call. I wish you could feel the hurt as people verbally, and sometimes physically, abuse us or belittle what I do, or as they express their attitudes of "It will never happen to me" I wish you could realize the physical, emotional and mental drain or missed meals, lost sleep and forgone social activities, in addition to all the tragedy my eyes have seen.~

~I wish you could know the brotherhood and self-satisfaction of helping save a life or of preserving someone's property, or being able to be there in time of crisis, or creating order from total chaos. I wish you could understand what it feels like to have a little boy tugging at your arm and asking, "Is Mommy okay?" Not even being able to look in his eyes without tears from your own and not knowing what to say. Or to have to hold back a long time friend who watches his buddy having rescue breathing done on him as they take him away in the ambulance. You know all along he did not have his seat belt on. A sensation that I have become too familiar with.~

~Unless you have lived with this kind of life, you will never truly understand or appreciate who I am, we are, or what our job really means to us...I wish you could though.~

~ABOUT ME~

~ Welcome to my home on the Internet and Webtv the greatest thing ever invented since the PC. This couch potato just lays back and surfs the Internet, e-mails all my new friends across the USA and the WORLD and as an Official Guestbook Surfer looks in on your great Homepages, signs your Guestbooks and send you my Site Awards when I feel you deserve them. I look forword each day to your comments in my guestbook so I can return your visit. It might take some time because of the amount of visitors I have. PLEASE, when you sign my guestbook, write for all to see, only use "private" if it is for my eyes only as there are some beautiful words and stories under there that the visitors are missing.

I met a lot of friends here when I started to ask questions and recieved help when asked. ~Grandma~ was first, then there was Karen, Gary and Dorothy, too many to mention, You can find them all on my link page and on the Awards Links.

Learning HTML,someone is trying to get back at us for something, I'm getting too old to learn a second language. "grin" We need a keyboard we can talk to and print what we say in HTML and we could build a site in no time, like my friends Gary & Dorothy, they got about six or seven great sites (Search my pages, see if you can't find them, you'll be glad you did). Bill Gates must have seen the thing of the future when he brought into Wevtv at 200% less than a PC.BUT he had better wake up for it is time to move forward NOT backwards! Hey...I'm supposed to be talking about me, but then Webtv is me.

This here senior citizen is over 70, was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, when at age 10 I drown under ice and went up that "escalator to the sky" to the warm bright lights and a voice said "go back, go back."Then two policemen brought me back with the old style CPR as I had no heartbeat or breathing. I have no memory recall before that day, and with age I have a short term memory loss.

We moved to Washington State where my father became a Deputy Sheriff. A fire Station was across the street from my home and I spent my "playtime" over there helping polish the big fire trucks and learning about fire and firemen. I have lived most of my life in Washington State where we don't suntan, we rust, If I could just find a use for Slugs and Moles I could be a millionaire.

When I was 16 years old, I thought I knew everything (except algebra) so I quit school and went off to the Korean War in the Navy where I started in firefighting and taking correspondence courses to learn everything I could. I married and had two fine boys. When I got out of the Navy I took the test for the Seattle Police Department, comming out #1, but that did not mean anything, I got moved back on the list to #23 and they hired 22, Why you ask? I did not have a High School Diploma,(young people stay inschool).

So I tested for the Fire Department, passed and went to work by day and going to school by night, there was no GED back then so it was four hours a night, four nights a week for FOUR years (9th.-12th. grades), then I did the same for an Applied Science Degree in Fire Protection Tecnology. I was gone so much gaining knowledge and dedicated to saving lives I forgot my own family and my marriage did not last.

~Each of us brings to the world unique talents, gifts and abilities. Even if you don't know what it is, or value what you do, someone, somewhere, will benefit from you presence.~

~No one can do what you do exactly the way you do it. It is this uniqueness that makes you valuable to the world. We are each as unique and valuable as the other. It was designed that way.~

~A gift from God. Gifts are not given on the basis of race or gender. As a matter of truth, gifts come in many shapes, sizes and colors.~

~When you do what you do, exactly the way you do it, you are sharing God's gifts, bestowed for the good of the world.~
