Capri Advertising |
This original Capri ad appeared in both 2-page and 3-page versions in late 1987, to announce the introduction of Capri.
The next ad campaign (early 1988), a decidedly winter-time look, declared Capri as "The Slimmest Slim in Town".
Late 1988 saw the arrival of the "the slimmest slim!", with bold colors, the Capri name in the font we all know and love, and often a full-size picture of the Capri pack.
The next campaign incorporated the term "Super Slims".
The first ads for Capri 120s, in 1991. If you noticed that the filter design in these ads looks like the filters found on Capri 100s, it's because the first Capri 120s (during test-marketing) had a design similar to the 100s.
Later ads for Capri 120s, which now featured the lower-case Capri name in the popular Futura Extra Bold font.
A rare "combination" ad showing both Capri 100s and Capri 120s.

The series of "A Taste For the..." ads
With Capri, there is definitely "No Slimmer Way To Smoke"
Pictures from the namesake Italian island of Capri adorn the "She's Gone To Capri" ads. This campaign also introduced the Capri name appearing in a script font.
The next "She's Gone To Capri" ads, with the Capri logo included.
The latest "She's Gone To Capri" ads, without the beautiful Capri models. Note that the scenes are the same as used above, in the original "She's Gone To Capri" ads.
The following are ads from Brown & Williamson-sponsored publications. These publications are mailed to people on the B&W mailing lists, and are similar to mainstream publications, except all the cigarette ads (and there are many) are from B&W products. Let's hope these new ads make it into the mainstream magazines!
