Course materials will be distributed in class rather than being posted to this website.
Many people have difficulty coping either with difficult situations or in general with life or with specific areas in life, such as a difficult security situation. This course will help people understand how to cope in a more realistic way while accepting the fact that we are living in difficult times. They will also be able to accept some of their own situations and learn to sort out which things are worthy of being fixed or changed and which things are worthy to put in effort to change things and in which areas it is not worth putting in the effort and they should put them aside and let other things take up their time, energy, and effort with the understanding that it is impossible to change everything and everybody.
Readings for the coping program will come from articles that I have written as well as other articles that are taken from reputable online sources which deal with these issues. Our sessions will include dealing with difficult situations and understanding how to change ourselves to meet the situation.
Much of the course deals with coping with a situation after the crisis strikes. The goal will be to keep the family together, despite the traumatic experience they faced. We will stress the following crises:
