If you're a skinhead and have never heard of the Bruisers, you've had your head up your ass! The Bruisers are arguably one of the finest street rock-n-roll bands this country has ever seen. Who could ever forget such classics as "Intimidation" or "American Night"? The first time I ever heard of the Oppressed was through the Bruisers cover of "Work Together" off of the Intimidation EP. Their sound is all their own, like a train running through your ears into your brain and back out again. Just think chuggin' along street level punk rock with gravelly vocals (ala Roddy Moreno of the Oppressed).
The band formed in 1988 and released the above mentioned Intimidation EP on Patriot records (it has since been repressed). The pressing sold out quickly, establishing the Bruisers as a force with which to be reckoned. The band is still going strong with ol' "Uncle Al" Barr on vocals, John Dicicco on drums, Keith Richards (yes, Keith Richards!) on lead guitar, John Rio on bass, and Scott Vieirra on rhythm guitar. They're planning a tour of Europe soon (their third). If you have the opportunity, you're a fool if you don't go see The Bruisers play...
