Pist-n-Broke hail from Detroit, MI and are among the best Oi! bands to ever come out of the United Staes. With a driving traditional Oi! sound, they even have their own saxophone player for their ska'd up numbers. Originally callled the "Dortmunder Union Boys," Pist-n-Broke formed in the summer of '92. The final line-up had Scottie Lyons on lead vocals, Ben Mancell on guitar, P.T. on drums, Joshua Donow on bass, and Gabe Heiss on saxophone. Sadly, they broke up in the spring of '96. Pist-n-Broke will surely be missed. They have two tracks on U.S. of Oi!, Volume 2 as well as a couple of their own releases, most recent being the American Drinking Songs 12" mini-LP on Vulture Rock Records.
Along with the Templars, Pist-n-Broke are one of my favorite Oi! bands, American or foreign. For a Beer Swilling Skinhead such as myself, tunes such as "Boys Night Out" and "Pist-n-Broke" are masterpieces of Oi!. For those of you with Irish blood flowing through your veins, the tune "Ireland" makes you want to head down to the local Irish pub, order a properly built Black & Tan, and watch the Irish National Football Team kick the crap out of the English squad at Wembley (note: you'd have to get really drunk to see that happen though!), all the while listening to some old Irishman talk about beating people up in the Old Country!
