A conversation with Snowy SHAW

- Snowy, in an old KD/MF fan club magazine, I have seen an exclusive artwork cover of the ILLWILL album. Does that mean that a new ILLWILL album will be released soon?

- Nope! Wouldn´t think so,not as far as i´m concerned anyway,.I never seen it though but I know for a fact the US label requested a re-make of the original ugly artwork for the european version(but that one isn´t the original either,i made the first cover that the first label somehow managed to lose!!!), maybe that´s the one you saw or the US version i don´t know!? I bet you can sense that I still have a bitter taste in my mouth when looking back on that miserable time, which devoured several years and unfortunate 
involvement with total assholes,so i assume i´m not the best choice when it comes to promoting this band,promoting what!? for that matter it´s rather passé by now.Wait a minute,what i think you saw was the mini-cd cover i did some time ago,a request from the US company to put out some single or 
something,and we did in fact have a couple of previously unreleased great songs or versions of songs,i figured it would be just great to finally correct the mistakes and include these songs i choose to take away from album if Andy in return would exclude my and Sharlee´s least favorite tune on the album,unfortunately Andy insisted on using it since it was his best written song ever in his own opinion.
- Just when it will be out ,i haven´t got a clue,Andy alone have been dealing with the US label as well as with Ole so I guess it´s all up to him, I never even seen a contract or anything,nor have i gotten any money from the sales which i of course didn´t expect!!

-  Why did you start a new project with NOTRE DAME after only one album with ILLWILL?

- Simply because I got sick of it,and although I had tons of new fresh songs and a complete new genuine direction in mind for a sequel ,some gutfeeling  told me it was time to move on,well,time went by and i began to realise it wouldn´t probably be anything more than just plans and un-used material laying around collecting dust, but you never know! It seems everybody is so deeply wrapped up in all kinds of other projects as it is now, especially Sharlee,and there´s no way i would do another album without him on my side .as some sort of reaction to all the shit that went down with illwill, i just felt it was about time i did something straight out of my own heart this time without compromise,entirely based upon things I love and that i grew up loving. but don´t get me wrong, the music i wrote for illwill was definately one side of me but band´s concept and approach of dealing with political messages and such things never been too close to my heart, i personally prefer to escape with music into some fantasy world than debating or airing my thoughts on everyday life boredom ,environmental polution and corrupted government and things i don´t know shit about and couldn´t care less about,well at least not in connection to music,

- The music and spirit of NOTRE DAME is very different from what you did with ILLWILL. Why such a difference?

- as i just said, illwill shows one side of my songwriting and Notre dame shows a complete different style,one thing shouldn´t exclude the other i believe, at least that´s my motto and what i´m trying accomplish, i refuse to be cornered into a certain catagory of music,but i guess that whatever 
i´ll do, it´ll always be metal , one way or another

- ILLWILL had a deal with DIAMOND RECORDS (managed by Olé Bang). Why didn't 
you wish to keep this deal with that label?

Not exactly the best of labels do you think? Didn´t even know he´d given  us the boot! Well, i don´t think it matter really.I gave a bunch of promo copies of illwill´s evilution to Nicolas (head of promotion)at Osmose, hoping that he´d pass them around through his channels,he just got blown 
away by the music he let me know later on,so when I asked Hervé(the boss)if he thought a new album with illwill would be something for Osmose,without further consideration he just went NO! then i said but if…NO!! Oops!sorry i asked
