The final Ramones show: August 6, 1996
The Ramones played their final show on Tuesday August 6, 1996 in Los Angeles,
CA. While I wasn't able to be there (living in upstate New York kind of puts
a damper on things like that), I've read some reviews/reports from the show.
Here's some random notes concerning the show:
- There were some guest appearances. Probably the most noteworthy one
is Dee Dee Ramone's appearance. He joined the band on "Love Kills".
Pictured below is Dee Dee backstage at the show with Motorhead's
Phil Campbell:
- Lemmy Kilmeister from Motorhead also made guest appearances during the
show, pictured below. He joined the band during their cover of Motorhead's tribute song
to the band, "R.A.M.O.N.E.S."
- Others making guest appearances during the set were Eddie Vedder from
Pearl Jam, Tim Armstrong and Lars Fredrickson from Rancid, and Ben Shepard
from Soundgarden.
- It was to have been at the just-opened Billboard Live club, but was
switched at the last minute to The Palace, due to the Billboard club not
being ready for the show. Pictured below is a ticket stub from the show:
- The show was filmed for future release, but I have no idea whatsoever
when it will be released.
Here is the setlist from the show, along with the names of the guests next
to the song they joined the band on:
