A TOTALLY BIASED AND PROBABLY INCOMPLETE NEW ZEALAND UNDERGROUND SCENE REPORT UPDATE #2 - SEPTEMBER/OCTOBER 1997
The following is a scene report I've decided to put together for the benefit of anyone, both local and from overseas, who wants to know about the New Zealand Underground extreme and Hard edged music scene. I hope to be updating this regularly and sending copy's of it out to anyone who requests one. As well as that, it will also be put Online on the Internet (currently on XANATAPH'S CHAMBER: http://www.oocities.org/SunsetStrip/Club/4780. If you are an editor please feel free to reproduce this in your next issue and also don't be scared to edit it down to fit in with the musical genres that your publication may cover. As the title say's, this is "A totally Biased and probably Incomplete" scene report. Thus meaning that there are obviously a lot of things missing. If you are reading this locally and feel you should be but aren’t included in it, the reasons will be as follows:
A) I either don't know about you or don't have enough information to be able to include you.
B) I've accidentally forgotten about you.
C) You've either done something in the past to really fuck me off or offend me and you never ever will be included in here!!! If you've answered both A) and/or B) to the above, please get in touch with me as soon as possible with the appropriate information, so you I can include you in my future updates. DAEMON: After recent major line up changes DAEMON have gone from playing down tuned mega heavy Death Thrash to a more high speed but catchy black/death style. This they dub, "Neodeath Metal". DEMONIAC: Not really a local act any more, as the band have recently relocated to England. However I’ve chosen to mention them here so anyone who’s wondering, can find out what’s happening with them. From what I understand the band's follow up album to "Prepare For War", "Stormblade" has now been released in a didgi-pak only format, but will also come out as a limited edition Picture disc. HUMAN who play Disco Grind-Core have released demos in their 5-year history. Im not exactly sure but I think the discography (Demography?) goes some thing like this: “Organ Splatters” (92, no longer available), “Vomit Discreetly” (early 93), “Things that Make You go…” (late 93), “Not so famous Game Show Themes” (94/ 95), “Play Time for the Sex Machine” (96) and I think theres another one on its way. LURE is a black metal from Hamilton, we have been playing together for 3 or is it 4 (I can't remeber) years. We recorded a demo in 1994 but never mixed it properly (Its sitting on sixteen digital tracks).
