KITH, PYTH, & SNL

Well, now that everyone has heard of the Kids in the Hall, thanks to Comedy Central airing them 12 times a day (woo-hoo!), and the staging of a national tour (hoo-woo!), I don't feel nearly as obliged to give you any king of long explanation of who KITH is, besides, if you really need one, it would be in your best interest to visit Barb's page. Barb's knowledge of the men of KITH, puts the rest of our measley pages to shame. Not that it takes a whole heck of a lot t put this page to shame. I'm sure that a wet paper towel and a tuna casserole would do the job just fine...oh well...so anyway, without taking up to much more of your time, here is some really old information on the Kids, and a few new links...

From left to right the Kids are Dave Foley, Mark McKinney, Scott Thompson, Bruce McCulloch, and Kevin McDonald. The Kids in the Hall was a Saturday Night Live style comedy sketch show. It was originally shown on CBC (Canadian), CBS, and HBO. It ran from 1985-1994, though you can now catch it if you get Comedy Central. If your cable server does not carry Comedy Central ( and your constant phone calls to the cable office have yet to pay off) the Kids have released a couple of videos with episodes of their shows, or you can rent Brain Candy their 1995 major motion picture. Dave can be seen on NewsRadio (NBC, Tuesday nights at 8:30, starting this fall), Mark is on Saturday Night Live (NBC 11:30), Scott appears on the Larry Sanders Show (HBO), Bruce released the comedy CD Shame-Based Man, and Kevin appeared in National Lampoon's Senior trip.

Recurring Characters

(This list is very short, but keep looking for additions!)

Brain Candy, the Kid's first major motion picture, is the story of a scientist, Chris Cooper, who discovers the cure for depression (a drug called Gleemonex). His invention is totally exploited by the company (Rotiror Pharmaceuticals) that he is working for. The film only contains a few characters from the series, such as The Cops, Queen Elizabeth, Nina Bedford and The Taxi Driver. Combined, the kids play a total of 33 roles, both male and female.

Monty Python

I think Monty Python's most important contribution to society would have to be that kept Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Guiliam, Erik Idol, Terry Jones, and Micheal Palin off the streets, because, frankly, I believe that had they not had some kind of creative outlet for their energy, many people and sheep would have lost their lives to their collective hands, which is collectively a collection of twelve, collectivly. Well, ten, now that Graham is in a dustbuster, or some similar contraption... The show also spun-off into five movies: ...And Now For Something Completly Different, Quest For The Holy Grail, Life of Brian, the Meaning of Life, and Live From the Hollywood Bowl. Now they are all individually successful, except for Eric Idle, who is travelingaround the country playing his guitar for nickles and discarder cheese, or something.

...And Now For Something Completly Different was actually a remake of the best of Flying Cicus, with skits such as the dead parrot, and nudge, nudge, wink, wink. The Holy Grail, the best known one, dealt with King Arthur's quest for the famous cup. Life of Brian was the story of Jesus' next door neighbor. The Meaning of Life was a collection of sketches dealing with, well, the meaning of life. Live at the Hollywood Bowl was a rare film of a live performance of the players skits.

Saturday Night Live

So, here's the thing, right, I used to have a cast list of SNL here, but frankly I've gotten very lazy as far as updating that portion of my page. So lazy infact, that before this update, the cast list was 2 bloody years old. So, I will keep my written synopsis of the wonder quarter century of humor that the beautiful people at SNL have given us short at bittersweet...here goes: Saturday Nigh Live is good. It is very good. Many funny people have come from SNL, a list that is not limited to Norm, Murray, Rock, Spade, Sandler, Farley, Farrel, Ackroyd, Myers, Carvey, Hartman. Not to mention some very unfunny people of whom I will not mention. So be greatful, because without the people of Saturday Night Live there would be no wonderful Wayne's World, or horrible Conehead movies.
