Fugazi: A Great Independent Band

the members of Fugazi are: Ian MacKaye, Joe Lally, Guy Picciotto, and Brendan Canty. this band is definitely one of my favorites simply because they truly rock an' have a sound that is completely unique, an' it will make you get up on your feet an' move to their groove.

something i like about Fugazi is that they keep their prices down so that anyone can go see them play for only $5, an' their cds are around $8 to $10. you can order them through Dischord Records--that's the label that Ian MacKaye started, an' they have lots of good rockin' bands on it, too.

another great thing about them is that they play all ages shows and many benefit shows, too, so they're not just out there rockin', but they are also helping communities an' causes as well.

now, i was lucky enough to have seen them when they played in Charleston,WVa. at a place called "Common Grounds." this was back in 1998, but i still remember it as if it were yesterday! they are so intense an' powerful. they play with every ounce of soul, and the songs, performance, and sound, all onstage together are unbelievable. you can literally feel the vibrations of their music an' the passion with which they deliver every song they do.

i also admire them 'cuz if someone in the audience is causing trouble, they will stop the show an' take care of the problem so that everyone can go back to having a good time. by the end of the show, you will be sweaty an' full of joy, an' that's the truth!

i have all their cds an' love them all, but seeing them play live is really where it is at! if you haven't heard of Fugazi or seen them live yet, let me just say you don't know what a wonderful band you're missing. i urge you to go check 'em out an support independent bands because they make some of the best music you will ever hear...oh, an' the only merchandise that Fugazi sells is the music, so ya' won't get no t-shirts, posters, hats, etc., but ya' will get their creative, original ideas an' sounds that they put on their cds. that's what it's all about--music is what matters, not propaganda. the message that comes with the music is much more important than wearing a shirt with the band's logo on it. that's what i think anyway.
