Welcome to a new feature in AMP! Each issue, we will feature Web sites that promote "alternative" aspects of music (i.e., alternatives to major labels, alternatives to mainstream political rhetoric, alternatives to mainstream radio, etc.). Again, we'd like to hear what you think about this and what Web sites you'd like to see featured in this space. E-mail the AMP Collective, and let us know what you think.
This website continues to call attention the questionable convictions of Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin, and Jessie Misskelley, Jr. and to demand a retrial.

WM3 Benefit CD
Aces & Eights Recordings has been working on a WM3 benefit CD for the past few months not only to raise awareness for the plight of the West Memphis Three, but to raise money which will be donated to trust funds in the names of Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley Jr. The album is currently set for release in early June, 2000.
Artists included on the album: Tom Waits, Steve Earle, L7, Mark Lanegan, John Doe, Rocket From the Crypt, Nashville Pussy, Long Beach Dub All Stars, Zeke, Tony Scalzo (Fast Ball), Kelley Deal and The Supersuckers.
More artists to be announced soon.
Daemon Records is an independent record label based in Decatur, Georgia. Artists on the label include Three Finger Cowboy, Mrs. Fun, Rose Polenzani, Viva la Diva, Michele Malone, Ana Egge, Justin Hale, 6X, and The Rock*A*Teens. The label also promotes independent, corporate-free radio.
Founder Amy Ray (of the Indigo Girls) describes Daemon's vision:
For better or worse, this label has never been afraid of change or exploration. At this pont, our vision has become more fully realized, the activism more cohesive, and the community more in focus. . . . Daemon is determined to provide a non-corporate infrastructure for bands to help themselves and each other. . . . When you order from [Daemon], you are supporting independent artists, possibly a few grass roots environmental or humanitarian activist organizations, and a label that does not accept homophobia, racism, misogyny, or basic neglect. (Amy Ray, "To the Patron," Daemon Records 2000 Catalog)
